Ok My bridgestone turanza are done at 27k miles, i bought a khumo tires i will post the pictures soon!! I paid 400 with the installation and i found that they are really good!!!

I have been involved in testing so I know how to tell the difference.

You may have some experience with the various brands of tires but when big blanket statements are made, they are usually by the uninformed who have a problem/vendetta against what ever they are talking about. In this case, I'd almost say it's a Japanese bias as you stated that all "asian tire makers make junk" and then go on to exclude a couple.

The statement "When it rains you will understand why" seems to come without any indentification of the tires and you surely didn't qualify your statement with any experience with the specific tire model. Not to mention how it works with the specific chassis and suspension set-up.

Did you even look at the pictures? If you look at the tread pic, it sure looks like it would evacuate water very well. Of course, one couldn't actually know without driving it, so, personally, I'll wait for the report back by the owner if it works well in the wet, but I have no reason to doubt that they will. Also, is this even a concern to the purchaser? You have absolutely no way of knowing what the owner's criteria is for a good tire.

This reminds me of when I drove my track car to the autoparts store. I had a "helpful" gentleman suggest that I should replace my brake pads soon because my brakes were squeaking. I tried to explain about track pads, but I could tell I would get further speaking to the wall. Oh well, to each thier own.

Aren't Nitto Japanese tires? To me, they are the best bang for the buck, but there are several good tires out there. Sumatomo aren't bad either.

I assume that you are bashing other Asian branded tires as well. Like Bridgestone and Dunlop. Bridgestone for one is heavily involved in motorsports. Nitto is a Toyo entry level brand. Sumitomo is a entry level Dunlop brand. Falken is a budget brand but they make some pretty good bang for the buck high performance tires like the RT615's. Also every tire manufacturer has a top to bottom line up. Some tires are meant for high mileage, others for high perfromance, others for all season performance, etc. Tires are always a compromise. Doesn't matter who makes them. So broad generalizations about tire brands, especially Asian brands, are pretty asinine.

Never mentioned anything about Toyo and yes I know nitto is their value brand because a friend of mine used to be the director of marketing there. and Bridgestone would be a great company if they hadnt killed hundreds of people with their firestone brand, remember the rollovers, or did you have your head up your 3$$ when that ordeal was going on.

If you dont think that Bridgestones and firestones are made in the same factory on the same equipment, go take a tour of their decatur IL plant

Also dunlop is not considered an asian brand anymore, Goodyear purchased Dunlop in 1999 and completely ran that brand into the ground, they have a few good OE lines but their light truck had numerous safety issues with separations, as I worked for them in six years.

Their FM901 value performance line is the nosiest tire I have ever seen. buy a set for yourself and I guarantee the price of the tire that you rip them off your car after 7000 miles

What I am trying to get through your thick head is that too many people are putting unqualified cheap asian tires on rocketship cars like Porsche, Audi, BMW, mercedes, in many instances people are being sold an H speed rated kumho when there car calls for a W rated UHP tire.

My bashing is pretty much directed at Kumho, Hankook, Sumittomo, because they are responsible for creating thousands of job losses in the US in the last ten years. And all have low quality products

Goodyear, Continental, Michelin, have all closed or have plans to close numerous plants in US and Canada, and it is cause these guys whored out the price on tires in the US

They have driven millions of units of production to countries in the Eastern Bloc and in Brazil, Mexico etc.

My goal is to try to recognize that sometimes is smart to support companies that at least manufacturer some of their product in the US

I have had alot of different tires on alot of different cars. I have Kumos on my Acura and love them...even in the rain. And it rains HARD here.

You obviously have some political issues about the tire industry. I do not want to continue this and the moderator ought to close this thread. One last thought.... Some of the brands that you support are not even American (Michelin, Continental). I'm sure you know this. Yes they have (or at least used to have) American plants. But their profits all go back to Europe.

I got motivated to research tire history. Dunlop is a UK brand. In fact Mr Dunlop invented the 1st pneumatic tire (for bicycles) in 1888. Goodyear bought the company in 1990 and since shut down UK tire production (I believe). Also I believe I was mistaken about Sumitomo being owned by Dunlop. I believe they are just partners (or possibly were).

I do agree with Mr Pirelli in regards to owners of high end cars putting cheap replacement tires on their vehicles. I've seen people driving $60K Lexus with $40 Costco specials installed. Not only does this downgrade their ride but can be dangerous if the replacement tires do not meet the performance requirements of the vehicle. However, I would not agree that all cheap tires are universally bad. I've driven on many crappy expensive Michelin or Goodyear tires that were inferior to cheaper BF Goodrich or Nitto tires (better dry/wet traction, ride, etc).

I, personally, have yet to find a tire that performs better on regular oily streets immediately after if rains(you know, when the oil in asphalt rises to the surface before it's cleaned off) than nittos, and they're cheap! :D I'm a cheap B******. :D

It happens everywhere, not just the tire industry. You can walk into a store a get a low-end whatever widget from a well known manufacturer that will be as crappy, and sometimes worse, as the cheaper no-named brand sitting next to it. The point is, all manufacturers have ranges of product to fit certain needs/desires. Some people desire a name more than what the product represents.

For tires, I've seen people post about the "crappy" tires that came on thier sports cars that only lasted 15-20k miles.(crazy) Then there are the people who complain about noise, lack of grip, etc. The point is that's why there are different models of tires and why people buy different ones.
