We have a heck of a time reaching from the front seat to turn the backseat dome light on (like when we need light to check on the baby!). The switch is just too far back for most people to reach. Are we missing something here?

5 shares platform with 3 which is a car/wagon not minivan base. The 2nd row dome light is equivalent to 3's center dome light which is reachable by the driver.
You can always wire to front map lights for total control.

The 5 needs an all lights on switch to go where to blank switches are. I want to light up the car, but I'd have to press 3 buttons in different locations or open the door!

I wonder if someone could get a switch, the coin holder or something (maybe a switch from Canada?) and wire it to all the lights? And all on or off switch would rock.

i know that one is for folding mirrors. It upsets me that Mazda left these features out for us. I would've purchased the folding mirrors and backup camera if i had the chance.....**you listening Mazda?**

There is a backup camera option for the CX9 that has a small video display mounted in the rear view mirror that's expensive as all h-e-double hockey sticks, but it's slick as poo.
Should be filtering down the line and becoming an accessory on alot of Mazda products. Maybe even the 5?
BTW I purchased 4 'coin holders' for a late model Protege and stuck them in the switch blanks. Give a better place to hold loose coins than the NOTHING that the 5 has standard. Popped right into place and work great.

Are you saying I can get switches from MZ3/P5 in place of blanks?
What switches are available? I'm thinking of installing a backup light and a fan.
