Does anyone know what changes to the CX7 are in store for 2008? As a brand new model, I might expect a few tweaks. No car is perfect on first rollout.

Someone mentioned in another thread that they're somehow dropping the premium fuel requirement. I don't know the details, and as far as I'm concerned it is just a rumor. I personally don't quite buy it.
I'd assume they'd offer a few more options, such as wheel choice and a new color or two. But these are just WAGs.

Thanks. When will press release info come out from Mazda, assuming the new models will hit the showrooms in Sept.

Did you originally post about the non premium gas for next year?
If so where did you get the information?

Same place all my info comes from. Friends in high places. My track record for providing info before it is public is well known here.

Most of the changes made are small tweaks we'll never know about. In my site's reliability surveys I'm seeing that new designs often start with high repair rates and then drop off steadily over the next year.
Could just be a fluke with my small sample sizes. Or it could be that the manufacturers make running changes in response to high frequency warranty items. Since the changes are always in a downward direction...
I can't say either way for the CX-7--too few participants so far (some of whom have reported repairs). But more people have joined recently, so probably initial results in August.

I originally posted the premium fuel statement on a CX-9 thread last week. I was told by someone pretty high up in the Mazda corporate chain. It is not a rumor.

My salesman told me the same thing when I bought the car a month ago. He said they would:
1) allow using regular gas but with a loss in performance, or
2) require only regular gas because the engine would be tuned differently.
Since we are in the #1 now, I guess there will be some loss in power

By definition, it is still a rumor. Your "track record" is only a variable people consider when deciding how much they believe it. It becomes fact when there's a Mazda press release or when the 2008 lineup details hit their website.
Now don't be offended, if it becomes fact then thumbs up for giving Mazda fans a heads up. But I think you're coming across a little strong.

Check the sticky thread at the top of the page with the 2008 specs that I posted. Note the date of the specs. I've had them since that date. That is why I stated it was fact.

Awesome. Thanks! Now it's fact. (yes)
BTW, I'm a little confused by the colors. Do you know if "Platinum Silver Metallic" replaced "True Silver Metallic", or is it just a name change? Reason I ask is because I got the True Silver Metallic, but it turns out it is more gold than I like, so I'd be pumped if they replaced it with a better color that I could trade for next summer. (I actually was hoping they'd offer a graphite metallic color in 2008, but it looks like that's not gonna happen, grrr.)

I think it's just a different name for the Canadian market.
