Not sure if its powdercoated or not. How can you tell? I'm a noob at this stuff

KrayzieFox
04-25-2007, 09:18 PM
Nevermind, I think it's from an MP3 instead of a P5. The P5 strut bars were red, MP3 ones were yellow, and MSP ones were silver. I was just thinking you might have powdercoated your P5 one cuz the finish is really smooth lookin. Good price, wish I needed one cuz I'd certainly snag it from you ASAP!!

04-25-2007, 09:22 PM
Actually, that's an MP3 STB. Yellow was the stock color.

How do I know? It used to be my car! :D

Also, since it was my car, I'll point out that the sub in the MSP sub-deck is a Hi-Fonics sub that's about 10-12 years old, but had never been installed or used until I got it about 1 1/2 years ago. Sounds great, and probably will last longer than the stock MSP Kenwood, although I'm just guessing that, since the stockers tend to blow up!

Just trying to help out Chip! :D He's a good guy folks. He won't rip you off.

Lord_Zath
04-25-2007, 09:30 PM
yeah the mp3 had the yellow strut bar

what would i need to hook that MSP sub up on my LX? price without shipping or is that the shipped price.?

wouldnt shipping be killer on those seats? wanna part with just the driver seat?

ZoominMX-5
04-25-2007, 11:12 PM
Hey guys, I don't do dibs in my sales threads. Money talks, so I give it to the highest offer. Please PM all offers

Concerning installing this onto your LX, You will need the brackets from an MSP, plus a sub/amp wiring kit. Better ask a car audio shop or a wiring guru as to what wires you will need.

I would like to sell the seats all together. I'm not willing to part out, just yet.

the rear seats have the flip up bottoms, right? would you be willing to split them up? i might be interested in just the rears, so that i can have a "fold-flat" set-up. shipping would be to zip 13021.

I am not interested in selling the seats separately.

flip up bottoms? do you mean the folding backs so you can fold both sides down onto the seats flat?

njaremka
04-26-2007, 10:19 AM
the actual bottoms of the seats in the pro5 flip forward, then the backs fold down to give you a flat cargo area

ahh interesting. cool feature. ive got the interior from an ES in my lx so im out on that option.lol

The P5 seat bottoms don't "flip up" when installed in a sedan, as the mounting hardware is different from the sedan and wagon. The wagon seats kind of "wedge fit" in the sedan, and I never had a problem with them coming out or moving, but they don't flip. They don't really need to, though, as the seat backs fold basically flat in the sedans with the seat bottoms in place.

Also, since I did the install of the sub/amp into the car, I'll clue you in. You'll need the brackets from an MSP. The MP3's didn't use this set-up. You'll also need a "sub/amp" wiring kit, consisting of:
a power wire from the battery to the amp.
an amp turn-on wire from the head unit to the amp.
RCA cables for sound signal from head unit to the amp.

You'll also have to either get speakers for the rear doors, or have no rear speakers, 'cause the sub/amp deck precludes the use of the rear speaker holes up under the back window.
This is a surprisingly nice set up. It takes very little space in the trunk, but sounds great!

Oh, while we're on the subject, here's what the P5 seats look like in a sedan with the tan interior. I did the swap 'cause the P5 seats have way better side bolstering and were much more comfortable to me. I thought it looked alright, too.

i was under the impression that if you swapped the mounting hardware over, the seat bottoms would flip out like they do in the pro5.

I didn't see any way to do that, nor could I see a reason to bother. The seats fit fine, stayed in place fine, and fold quite flat, plus, if you flip the seats forward, you lose the some of slide/tilt for the front seats.

Miata for two days, and now a civic? WTF??

ZoominMX-5
07-27-2007, 08:33 AM
Well... I bought the miata, then had Mazcare of Roswell replace some belts for me the next day. As they were working on the car they found some disturbing things. Turns out the car was hit super hard in the front left region and repaired very very poorly. Also, the car was never maintained very well, and was surely to be a money pit. I was upset over this because the previous owner failed to mention that, and the wreck also DID NOT turn up on the carfax!! The previous owner gladly bought the car back from me the same week. I think what happened was that someone ripped him off, so he felt bad when he inadvertantly ripped me off.

Anywho, I had a friend selling a swapped civic that is setup very well for track and autocross use, so I picked it up for next to nothing. Its been great ever since!
