Has anyone done a 1.8 conversion. If you have which clutch did you go with? the one from the 1.6 or from the 1.8. I recently did the conversion and used the clutch from my 1.6. It looked to have a decent amount left (not to worn). But now I am experiencing a lot of clutch slipage. Under heavy acceleration shifting into 2nd the clutch slips for a while before it grabs. Also it slips in 1st gear if i wind it up and dump the clutch (to do a smokey) the rpm's stay high and i have fully released the clutch but the car doesn't go anywhere. So i am debating if there really wasn't any meat left on the clucth or if there is just to much power for the 1.6 clutch to grab?

I used the old clutch disk (it measured well within tolerance), new pressure plate, and resurfaced the the stock flywheel. All parts were from the original 1.6 (PP is actually from a 2000 Protege). I've got 100 miles on the set, but no slippage issues, even when using launch control.

Rock Island makes a conversion for their Govt model.
S.O.G. has some for 159.95, but the flyer does not show a manufacturer.

you can use a 1.6 clutch as long as you use a 1.6 flywheel. so if you can get a good deal on a 1.6 clutch and not a 1.8 dont fret. but DO NOT MIX THEM*(1.6+1.8=bad)
