Just a quick see to if anyone considered the CX-9 before picking the CX-7. I know I looked. But, after driving the two, the CX-7 seemed to feel a little more car like. Once the MPV gets a little older, we will definitely pick up a CX-9. More space. :)
And, one option I forgot to add. "Hell ya', I bought a CX-9" :)

I def did, its just too big for my needs, and the ford engine also had me on a very big fence. other than that the interior blows the 7 away its so much more plush and nice.

yes and the wife was eyeing the 2 extra seats so she could haul more of her friends kids around at once. (crazy)
Just could not justify the 8,000 dollar price for those two seats. (bicker)
I also liked the turbo engine in the CX7 better. I wanted the smaller size of the CX7 as well.
Never got to drive one as they were not at dealers yet when I bought my CX7. With the different size and chassis and engine do they drive more like other SUVs or are they similar to the CX7?

I just felt I did not want to spend that kind of money since I don't need that much space and I like the feel of something more compact and sporty...beautiful large crossover I must say!

Didn't need the space so i didn't want to sacrifice the sporty handling with extra weight.

My wife and I are looking into replacing the 6 with a cx-7 and we looked at the cx-9 as well. It's an awesome ride and very roomy but we are going to stick with getting a cx-7 cuz they are just as roomy for 5 passengers, and they handle and feel like a car, plus the turbo 2.3L gets my attention. I just wish they offered a 6 speed manual with the cx-7!!
Also, the deciding factor on getting a cx-7 is I have a friend who is around 6'2" 325lbs and he needed to fit, in the cx-7 he fits! He sits comfortably and his head does not touch the headliner in the rear seat! He does not fit so will in my 6.

We drove both the CX7 and CX9.The 9 was a much smoother ride imo,but
it was too big for what I needed.

I looked at one at the dealership but we had already bought a CX-7 and it didn't look like their was much room in the third row of seats. Maybe kids could fit back there but not adults.
It looked a lot like a CX-7 without a cargo area. The front end doesn't look as good on the CX-9 either.

Even the CX-7 was a compromise for me! Before that, I was looking at the MS6, legacy gt, and similar vehicles. We (read: my wife) decided that we needed something bigger, so the sedans were pushed to the side. For me, bigger was not even an option and honestly, if the 7 were not available, I don't even know what I would have looked at. The fact that it shares the same engine as the MS3 & MS6 was the main deciding factor for me...

Nope...wasn't out yet and when it did come out, we declared it too big anyway.

We test-drove both. Wife chose the CX-7. And I'm glad she did! But that "9" is nice! Mazda's got a handle on the x-over segment.
