I currently own a 2001 ES 2.0 and with winter hopefully ending soon in the northeast, I am getting ready to spend some cash on suspension repairs. I do not want to dramatically modify my car, but I want to keep it in good running shape. When I got my snow tires mounted, the mechanic told me that my front shocks were leaking a small amount of oil. Since then, I have been debating about putting on a set of KYB GR-2 shock absorbers.

Does anybody on here have any experience with these? Are they any better than Monroe Sensa-trac? Will they last a long time with the factory springs? I plan on keeping my car a long time and driving it until it dies or until it's made it to genuine beater status. I'd appreciate any input that forum members have.

Thanks.

i use to sell these. They are a good set of shocks, monroe actually bought KYB a while back from what i understand and never changed the name. you won't find much diff. between the 2 buthe KYB is a little more " Sporty" and will work fine with stock springs.

After taking into account the other expensives I have coming up, I am probably just going to have the KYBs installed if I can find them for a good price. Is the best place to find them online at Ebay? Or can I get them through a store at all?

tokico HP's and get some lowering springs. might as well upgrade since you need replacing.

If I were going to get any type of springs at all, they would be H/R OE Sports because I won't lower the car more than one inch, considering how crappy driving conditions can get in the northeast.

Actually for those of us with Mazdaspeed Proteges - what brand shock absorbers did the cars come with from the factory?
