I'm waiting on the pictures from the track photographer to get put online..hopefully soon.
But thanks to my gf's fantastic picture taking skillz...I managed to get one shot...and it's far away...but hey...she did get a vid. :D
So..once youtube finishes doing it's thing...I will post that up too. :)
The car ran great.
Had a little scare when I sniped a cone during my 10 minute practice session and it slipped of a small hose (oil)...just slipped it back on, ziptied it...checked the oil...F for the win! Back in the car 30 mins later...lets run!
Other than that...
I NEED race tires & 13s.
I NEED brakes...cuz they sux.
I NEED to practice...more TT's in 14 days.
Yay.

Me sporting a Turkish National Football Jersey (they had a game tonight) & 2 Turkish racers...cool guys. They co-drive a Tofas (pr: toe-fash)...decent car.
http://a64.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/49/l_b3d775437f87b2df765f76d702385c3f.jpg
Anyway...I placed 3rd in my class...2 Mini Cooper S's beat me out...but they are modded & had slicks...I have LSD, poor brakes (haha Kevin) & stock tires...advantage them.
There were 13 competitors overall. Two classes...Diesel & gas. Wow...haha. Is that fair!?
And..to add insult to injury...if my pride wasn't already bruised...Selin's fave car (other than the yata) is what else. MCS. So, she sits in it & I'm forced to take a picture. Great...haha

Yeah, like I said...I must get used to the behavior of turboyata on the track before I can really throw her around. I kinda did in the warm up session. Then I took out the line & I had that in the back of my head the entire time...lol.

I still have not heard it on the computer yet. I need new speakers. :p

There are tracks all over the place here. I <3 it. Motorsports is second to football (soccer) here...so yeah, it's kind of a big deal!

Man...words cannot describe my frustration I experienced this morning.
I decided to get up relatively early and try to find some couplings. On the highway, I start noticing blue smoke & then the strange burning smell. I look at the oil pressure gauge & I notice the 30 - 0 needle swing. The death swing.
I'm like "Oh f**k! Please not this again!"
So I pull off the highway and limp the car to it's favorite watering hole...a Shell service station.
By time I turn off the car, get out & look behind me, I can see the drip marks.
Crap.
I kneel down.
Pale faced.
Oil.
Yikes.
The motor is hot, so I allow it to cool down as I politely ask for a floor jack.
We jack the car up & I pinpoint the problem (turbo oil return line). During my cone sniping...I may have hit this line & it shook it loose. Thankfully, it did not happen yesterday.
Once the bay was cool, we went to work. Dismantling the turbo pipes & getting down to business.
I undo the top & then I reach down to yank the bottom...it just slips off. SOAB. Screw zip ties. SS clamps are going on.
So, long story short. She's fixed...again. However, all they had was 15w30 syn oil. I don't think that is right for my car, although the car is running fine.
*Side note* Kev, what are you running in the GRM Miater?
Anyhow...now I have yet ANOTHER problem.
The couplings on my pipes (the black plpastic ones)...they do NOT sell over here. I plan to paypal one of you guys like $20 to get as many as you can & send them to me. I need these...as they are starting to give. Kevin or Scott or anyone else, lemme know if you can do this for me.
PM me & I will give you the details.
Here are some heartwarming pictures:

Dude...how many times do I have to say it. If there is 0 oil pressure, do not drive it!! No limping, crawling or creeping. Only stopping!
That's not the return line. It's the supply line (pressurized). Buy a new one and don't drive the car until it's installed.
I use 10w30.

It's crooked.
If you mean it's not aligned parallel to the radiator..yes. The L bracket we used on the left has not been duplicated for the right side...when it is completed, we'll put it on. I NEEDED the car back for driving to and from work. Taking the bus sucks ass. It's hot & smells.
If you are saying it is crooked in the last 2 pics..no..my bad picture taking skills pawn me.
JDM-P5
04-20-2007, 02:34 PM
Seriously though..usually...how far from the radiator should the IC be? I have had no problems with temp. And I don't want to jinx myself by saying or speculating that I will.
And for the best readings...where should I have the boost gauge line running to? It's still in the same location as it was before (throttle body). I still boost to 10psi. :)

lol... part of your night run vid went thru a small tunnel, and it reminded me of the airport tunnel here in vegas... I LOVE the way my mx-5 sounds when I drive thru it at full throttle... your car would just sound BEAUTIFUL... if unbearably loud thru it :)
I love how your car retains its MX-5 sound... even tho its way louder and meaner :)
JDM-P5
04-25-2007, 04:39 AM
Thank you! People cower in fear when I go by at WOT. The problem with that particular tunnel, is that they have those really small speed bumps (speed limiters) and they are a real PITA (don't want to lose traction if I fly down the decline). In the vid you can see I have to let off and go back to WOT once the car stops bouncing up & down.
There are some better tunnels a short drive North of me (no speed limiters there since it's a highway). I met some guys that run turbo Opels here & we will be doing a photoshoot/night run through the nice long ones here pretty soon. the traffic is so thin there, that late at night we can set up a tripod & have some good runs through there. I can only imagine just how loud it's gonna be!
One thing I noticed h/e, there's a nasty buzzing sound coming from right behind the passenger seat...it's a piece of thin sheet metal vibrating to the right of the gas tank. The screw is missing, I have to find one to fit. But, on the other hand, it's no longer needed since the roll bar is there. I may just cut it out & call it a day! :D

Well...the Turboyata is really starting to kick things off right here in beautiful Turkey. Of course...just like ANYWHERE in the world..the playa hataz (fuzz/pigs/po-po etc.) tend to strike hard.
Well....let's rack 'em up shall we?
"Parking in front of my OWN apartment building" Parking ticket $62YTL
"Exhaust too loud" ticket $162YTL
"Speeding double the posted limit on a COUNTRY BACK ROAD (awesome mountain road FWIW)" speeding ticket $222YTL (busted by remote radar & cameras, dispatch radio'd ahead & I got pulled over to a grinning officer of the law) *A BIG f**k you to technology!!!*
I will scan my Turk Tickets tomorrow (ugh)

Better news...since I'm pretty much the only person here with a modified MX-Cinco...I have been invited to have the turboyata replicated into a more child-friendly toy. The deal is, this company is going to make child-sized replicas of the turboyata & in exchange make ALL body repairs to Ms. Yata AND paint to my liking (engine bay, valve cover, exterior, interior, trunk). Well...can you say SPICY Yata? I can. Stay tuned for more info (this is scheduled to go down after the next time trial on May 19th). 7-10 days in their hands & I should have a magazine worthy car...finally.

Me too....I dig 'em...with the top down...the oooh's & ahhhh's own....girls seem to dig them too...because they "are çok güzel" (pr: chock goo-zell = very beautiful/pretty). (godown)
I ensured that my line was not half-assed. We ran the wire through the hole left by the cruise control delete. :)

Painting time.
The car has been shaved and sanded down. The paint is not quite spicy..but extremely close & gorgeous in the sunlight...as seen by the sample shown below. Those "cloudy" spots...are clouds. ;)
The car should be out of the shop on Saturday.
Just remember...this is a free paint job...3-stage. They also made a fiberglass body of the car...lol...as shown below....crazy.

They are building a racer & a show car...it's interesting what these guys can do.
The show car steered etc. show stuff.
the racer...they won't disclose any info just yet.
I told them I want a hood & trunk...and fenders....and a front spoiler. :)

The hood's already light as hell. Aftermarket CF hoods are heavier than the stock aluminum one.
