SUNDAY MAY 20th @ 2:00 PM
(RAIN DATE: SUNDAY MAY 27th)
INFORMATION
The 'Fun Run' meets are a regular gathering of local MTMA members and prospective members who want to have a fun ride around the twisty backroads of Bucks County, PA. The cruise is about 45 miles long with plenty of twists, bends, hills, and curves. We'll be meeting up at the Park & Ride in Yardley, PA off of I-95 right on the NJ/PA border at 2:00PM.
The cruise will start promptly at 2:30PM. If you are running late, you must call and let me know; otherwise we will leave without you! If you don't have my cell #, just PM me and ask.
The run usually takes a little over an hour to complete, and ends back at the Park & Ride, where we will line up for some more photos. Printed directions for the course will be given to all in attendance. They also can be downloaded at www.mazdateam.org/documents/fun_runs/bucks_county_pennsylvania.pdf. All Mazda owners and enthusiasts are welcome to participate.
RULES
1. Keep a safe distance from each other. If we are going too slow for you, then just deal with it for the time being. I'll give you a copy of the directions if you want to take the drive faster by yourself.
2. Obey any speed limits through residential areas.
3. Use common sense at all times. No burnouts, attempts at drifting, etc. Public roads are not the place for this. You are representing the club on this run, even if you are not currently a member. We do not want to attract any negative attention from local residents.
4. That said, we will be taking things fairly quick, so be prepared for some 'spirited' driving. People that do not feel comfortable taking sharp turns higher than the posted recommended speed (not the speed limit, the speed posted on the yellow signs) will want to stay towards the back of the pack. If you find that you are having trouble keeping up with the car in front of you, signal your hazards, pull off to the side of the road, and let the faster cars pass. Do not feel embarrassed if you need to drop to the back, and do not exceed your own abilities trying to keep up with the faster drivers up front.
5. On straights and slight curves, for the most part we will stay fairly close to the speed limit to avoid negative attention. However, there are some areas where we will temporarily 'kick it up a notch.'
6. If your car is significantly lower than stock you may want to think twice before going on the run. There are a lot of elevation changes, and people with extremely lowered cars have had some trouble. Use your own judgment when driving; participation on this Fun Run is at your own risk, and I or MTMA accept no responsibility for any damages.
7. Car-to-car communications will be done via FRS/GMRS two-way radio. This will help keep the group together, and will help us regroup if we are separated due to traffic control devices (stop signs, traffic lights, etc.). Anybody with a radio: If you see any car or group of cars begin to lose the pack, immediately radio in the information to me so I can take actions to keep everyone together.
DIRECTIONS
The Park & Ride is located at the corner of Taylorsville Rd and Woodside Rd in Yardley, PA. You can enter that intersection into most online mapping services (Yahoo! Maps, Mapquest, Google Maps, etc.) to get turn-by-turn directions. Here are some general directions from the major highways in the area. Feel free to PM me with any questions you have about how to make it to the meet.
From NJ/North: Take I-95 into Pennsylvania. Take exit 51 (the very first exit in PA, right over the bridge) towards New Hope. The Park & Ride is on your right at the first light.
From NJ Turnpike: Take exit 7A to I-195 West. See directions from I-195.
From I-195: Take I-195 West to the end. Keep to the left, and I-195 West will turn into Route 29 North. Continue on Route 29 North past Trenton. Follow the signs and take the exit to I-95 South. Cross over the bridge, and take the first exit in PA (exit 51 towards New Hope, right over the bridge). The Park & Ride is on your right at the first light.
From PA/South: Take I-95 North towards New Jersey. Take exit 51 (the last exit in PA). Keep left at the fork, and turn left onto Taylorsville Road. The Park & Ride is on your right at the first light.
From Southern NJ: Take I-295 North to the end. I-295 will turn into I-95 South. See directions from NJ/North.

SprintPCS FTMFL! - Looking forward to catching up on the bs with you DiS. I think I'm meeting up with Rami(Smoof) and Justin(Jersey_EMT).
Just added my new clutch - Exedy Organic Stage 1, and K&N Typhoon Intake. It hooks up alot better now, I didn't know how much it was slipping before. The intake is +12hp (supposedly), feels like it pulls harder up high than it did with the stocker - I just like hearing the turbo.

Just went up there today to check things out, Coming from Ridley. Very good time(2thumbs) . Had my girlfriend navigate(wrc) .We used the directions provided. only had to turn around once.
Windy Bush Rd. has a nice little speed trap on it, luckily I was only goin 5 above the posted limit. So the Statey left me alone. And StoneyHill has recently been paved(cabpatch). This all could be old news just thought I'd throw it out there.
Im gonna get workin on a Run down this way. Plenty of good roads, we'll see what I can come up with. Roads I usally run arent nearly as long as this one. Which bring me to something I was wondering about, did you guys actually drive to find all these roads or did you just use a map to plot out a course?
Anyway hope I can make it up there this sunday, actually meet some people from the forum.
Mike
yea last time when we were there, the speed trap was not in place. Probably local people are getting pissed off and reporting mazdamaniacs to the police.....The cops are probably there every day, waiting for us, hehe (thumb)
Thanks for info.

Near State Rd and Drexel Ave. I have a few good roads that are off Darby Rd heading towards Villanova / St. Davids, and you end up at 476S so you can open it up for a quick shot home.

OK, it says there's a chance of rain showers today and a slight chance of rain showers tomorrow. Even though it will be cloudy, the rain from today should be dry by tomorrow afternoon.
Because a lot of people have signed up for this particular meet, I'm not going to postpone it, we will take the chance that it will not rain during the run.
If it does happen to rain, I may cancel the actual run, but we'll still have a pretty decent regular meet at the park & ride. If this happens, we'll just hang out for a little while and then drive out to a restaurant and get some food together.
How's that sound?

DD in Woodbridge is fine, I'm hopping in the shower now - I'm down at x80 on the parkway so it'll probably be like 12:30 by the time I get there.
We've all got each others cell phone numbers, and I'll be taking my laptop with me. I'm assuming the free Wifi signal is still available over there, if not, I can through my cell phone.

Just got back. We had a nice turnout today. About 12 cars or so, I forgot to take an actual count.
Unfortunately because of that we got split up halfway through and had to wait on the shoulder for 15-20 minutes for the morons who got lost and made the wrong turn to catch up ( :p )
Thanks everyone for coming. It was nice to see some new faces. Keep your eyes out for future meets, I'd love to have you attend others.
Post your pics everyone! I left my camera in the car, and it is pouring right now from a huge t-storm that popped up out of nowhere, so I won't be posting my pictures soon. Maybe later tonight. I'm not expecting any great pictures from my camera as I just bought it on Friday and am still figuring it out, and I unfortunately left my D70s at home.

the 'morons' might have not gotten lost if there weren't 85 fucking stop signs and red lights on a 'fun run'. i thought the route was pretty dumb especially with all the pedestrians and cracked streets. i had fun though! probably won't be coming on any future runs.

Believe me, if there was a way to get to all of the best roads in the area while avoiding traffic control devices, the route would be changed.
Stuff like this only comes into play when we have more than 7 or 8 cars. Having a great turnout is always, well, great, but a cruise like this is one of the few times having too many people come backfire.

had an interesting time fellas.. nice to put some faces to the forum names..
nice pics btw brad...
dont be so hard on those fellas jerseyemt.. they were held up several times..
ive tried to stay back during those times so they could at least get a visual on my fd..
as far as the course... wasnt too keen on the stretch where there were warning signs for children...
and sure enough it was followed with 2kids and a parent walking alongside the road...
you may need to revisit the course to omit that section on future runs imho..

Glad to hear you had a good time. And that was the first time we've encountered pedestrians in that area. If you remember exactly where it was can you let me know? I'll see about re-routing around it if possible, thanks for the suggestion.
Hey guys, just want to thank everyone for a fun and semi-safe run. This was my first time, i am offically de-virginized to the mazda get togethers. i have to say it was quite a blast, im looking forward to the next time. Hope to see as many of you as possible out there again. Amp was right about the children on the side of the road, but there wasnt much we could do but slow down. I will post some of my pics in a few days.
