My transmission is stuck in reverse.. BUT, its in the fifth gear spot; with using a hammer and a punch we can get the shifter to move to the neutral spot, but yet its still in reverse.. The reason why I think its a broken shift fork is because we can move the linkage when it is unbolted and it twists and moves fine..

For about a week Ive been having a problem with the car not moving when its in reverse.. Like, when I put the clutch in, shift into reverse, let the ebrake down and start to let the clutch out, it acts like the ebrake is still up and it just sits there.. So I would turn the car off, hit the shifter back in neutral and try it again and it would work.. Then it would happen a couple of days later, until last night when this happened..

It did the same thing mentioned above, but it didnt come out of reverse as easy as it has before.. I tried using 1 hand and it didnt work, I tried using 2 hands and it didnt work.. So finally (after I get pissed) I turned the car off and pushed against the shifter with my foot which in turn pushes it into the fifth gear spot..

Anybody else ever have this problem?

Are you able to move it from the trans or at the shifter? It sound like when I broke the presure plate in my CRX I could get it into gear when off but when it was on I couldn't get it to come out. After a few times it just got stuck in gear, I drove home with it stuck in second gear.

When its all bolted together.. My dad hit the linkage while I was pulling on the shifter and it moved it from the 5th gear spot to the neutral spot, but it was still in reverse.. I cant get it into any other gear though..

Oh and come to think about it, its happened to me before but with 1st and 2nd gear.. It wouldnt go in either gear so I had to start out in 3rd..
