Nice lookin rig there! But that's a pretty small hard drive for a powerful rig like that, ain't it?

I've been trying to find ways to make a cool but quiet rig for not too much money. Right now I'm running 4 case fans in mine + 2 in the PSU all at low speeds to try to keep the noise down. But I need the airflow because my CPU's overclocked from 2.6 to 3.2, and vid card from 400 to 500.

the 2 120s in my case are loud as hell, but they cool it like a champ. if you can see the interior temp gauge inside the case there thats the idle temp in Celcius, and thats running a dual core.

Just built a PC with Asus MB but the number 4 memory slot is not seeing my memory so I have to send it back to newegg. sucks

what's inside:
- Asus P5B-E
- Intel E6300 1.86
- Patrio t 1Gx4 DDR2 800 PC2 6400
- WD Caviar 250Gb Sata HD
- ATI X1950 Pro
- Cooler Master Case
- Antec HD Cooler
- old NEC DVD-R drive
- Antec 430w PS

My only gripe is the fan on the ATI is loud and my PS may be under-powered for this video card also.

Heres my rig. Built it about 3.5 years ago and its been a flawless performer. Since building it I've upgraded the ram, soundcard and graphics card twice. I decided to opt out from leds and a case window because I wanted something understated and low key.

This is my last year with the old girl though. Its time for a complete rebuild. Maybe I'll sell her or maybe recycle some stuff. HAve not decided yet. But it still plays just about any game I throw at it and I have only had a blue screen of death once (waaay back playing kotor.

Case: Pretty Much your standard ATX tower with a handle.
Power Supply: 340 watt PSU. Its been very good to me all these years
Motherboard: Intel D865PERL socket 775, AGP P4/ 800 mhz FSB
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.6 Ghz HT
CPU cooler: 2 case fans. Case Temp idles around 47 degrees.
Sound: Soundblaster Live. 3 Piece creative labs speakers.
Graphics: XFX 7600GT AGP. (Best bang for your buck AGP card. $140)
Memory: 2 Gigs Patriot Ram (with cool blue heatspreaders)
Hard drive: 120 gig
Bay devices: NEC DVD Burner and BenQ CDRW Drive

Don't be sad, that was a fiesty little card when it came out. I had the exact same card and it was definatly an overachiever. I actually only upgraded the 6600GT to play fear since it wasn't quite cutting it for that game with the eyecandy turned up.

If your mobo is AGP, go with a 7600GT. You won't be disappointed. :) Its fast and cheap.

If you're PCI-E, then WTH are you waiting for, your choices are unlimited!!!

HeavyH20,

In another thread you posted what you have, that's funny. My friend who is helping with my setup showed me pretty much everything you have. Good times. Now I have to be different and look for other things. I don't want to duplicate. Must be cool..

I'd tell you to get a Silverstone case they are the nicest things in the whole entire world, but well you said you wanted to be different and I have a silverstone case :P

I need to "join" this thread and post my pics. The specs on my computer suck hardcore but it's just so beautiful.. plus I have 80 jazillion laptops (real number: 15-20) so I don't need a powerful desktop.

I also don't play video games.. at all. I own a ton of videogames, but I've really only used my wii recently.. and even that I barely touch.

really though the specs are pitiful:

- AMD Athlon XP mobile 2500+ overclocked to 2400MHz (stock speed is 1866MHz), 2gb corsair xms memory with the timings even tighter than they spec'd them for, DFI "lan party" nForce 2 ultra motherboard. 4 250gb seagate SATA hard drives, Radeon 9800pro 256MB (AGP cuz I'm kickin it old school lol) with 9800 xt bios flash, zalman passive cooling.. ultra-x power supply (550W I think).

the crowning jewel being the silverstone TJ06 case but I have to post pics of the actual one because it's not "stock" anymore :p

I should really, really stop modding my car and build a new computer and mod that.. some idiot can't run through a stop sign and destroy what I've poured my heart and soul into, it won't just rust to crap, I don't have to feel bad about using it in the winter, it won't get stolen, no one else can ever damage it, it's cheaper, arguably I use it more, if it breaks I won't miss class/work, if it blows up it won't kill me, the paint won't get rock chips.. (chair) (chair) (chair) (chair) (chair)
