what is the stock or stock-ish 2.0L protege like with 17's... as apposed to the stock 15's? what i mean is what is it like acceleration wise... i know it technically should be slower but how bad is it in comparsion? Thanks

It will be slower for sure, but it's all relative. I think you'll notice the ride harshness much more. The shorter sidewall will not give much over tar strips and driveway "lips" (where the cement rises about an inch) and will seem as though you got 200 PSI in your tires. 40 series or lower be careful on RR xings and such.

the thing is that i can get a REALLY good price on some wheels through car sponsors... but i can only get em in 17's (or larger)... and i was lookin at 205/40/17 because some people on here said there may be some clearance issues with 215/45/17's.

215/40R17 is closest to stock diameter. 205/40 looks funny and rides very harsh because there is almost no sidewall.

I use 205/40/17s on Mazda 3 rims. The ride is not bad at all. Just don't hit bumps or railroad tracks fast.
