Hi,

I have an intermittent problem with my 1999 1.6L Protege

Problem:
Engine misses when I'm in the 100Km/h (60mph) range ...at least I think it's the engine that's missing ...it sure feels that way.

It only does this once in a while and it only does it one time (not multiple times in a row). As an example, today It did this approximately four or five times during a two and a half hour highway drive.

I've had this problem in the past and cleaning/un-sticking the EGR seemed to help. I usually had to do this once or twice a year. The last time I cleaned it was a few weeks ago and the darn problem is already back so I doubt that this could be the problem ...unless of course it's ready to be changed altogether... any thoughts?

If not, what else could cause the engine to intermittently miss like that?

Thanks for your time

Yeah I know. I was just wondering if it could be something else since i cleaned the bugger (EGR Valve) only two and a half weeks ago.

Thanks!

Actually it jerks when I'm driving at constant speed not while accelerating

How does one go about checking a vacuum leak?
