Q: CX-9 Bluetooth Phone PAUSE function

Does anyone have any idea how to insert a pause function into a Bluetooth phone directory entry? For example, a pause before a work extension? I may have missed it in the manual, but I don't think so.

Can you create a phone directory with this vehicle? I do not have the NAV screen. Is it through there?

Phone directory is all driven through the speech recognition/synthesis interface. That is, you speak the commands to add entries, the numbers, names, and retrieve entries all with spoken commands. The speaker-independent recognition is actually pretty good on the phone side (and horrible on the Nav).

Now, that I know... you can have 32 entries, with 4 numbers for each, home/mobile/work/pager

Very handy, very clear, tells you if your phone battery is low, or if you have a poor signal... I like it.

I tried various combinations in both the English and French configs but to no avail.

If there was a way to access the quick dial entries saved on the phone itself, then maybe we could get around this limitation but letting the phone handle the pause function...

alinoro- I'm not sure this will help you, but I'll give it a shot. My Acura TL bluetooth system does not have a PAUSE function, but does have a TRANSFER function, which transfers the call to the car's audio system or vice versa. (If you get to your destination, you can transfer the call back to your handset so that you can exit the car and still talk.)

I use the speed dial to dial my voicemail (including the pause, mailbox and password) and then I transfer the call to the car's system. It works well.

I have the few numbers that I call every day loaded into the CX-9. All the other numbers in my phone are still accessible (including all the ones with pauses). I have to use the contact list in my phone, but as soon as I dial, the call connects through the CX-9's hands free system.

While that is nice, I would have to stop calling this approach "hands-free" -- if I am going to get the phone out to dial, then I might as well just use it (almost, I know, slightly exagerating to make a point, but I think it is a valid point). Still looking for a real PAUSE suggestion ...

Good point. While not ideal, I think I can settle for that approach for the time being. Just too bad it can't all be done without getting the phone out.

If I may suggest. Find out how you put a pause on your phone, and use that same thing to pause. That is a phenomenal suggestion, and I think there is an excellent chance it will help many others here. On my phone, however, I type 'N' to get a pause -- it's a Blackberry (e.g. http://www.blackberrycool.com/2006/02/08/001351 ). Pretty sure I can't "use N" in the CX-9 system :-(((.
