Well after 5 years and 191,000km I have traded in my 2002 Protege5 for a 2007 Mazdaspeed6 in Titanium Grey with the leather package. The incentives, rebate and low intereste rate were just too good to ignore and the car is fantastic. The only downside is it's currently been parked in my garage for 3 days since I don't have snow tires yet and winter doesn't want to seem to leave.

Nice choice on the 6, but the Protege5 will be missed :)

Me and my wife took one on a test drive during the summer and the clutch felt VERY stiff and had no travel whatsoever. Is yours like that or maybe just the one I drove?

From what I hear they changed that up. I know the MS6 that I drove was still like that (was a 2006 model though). The clutch had somewhat of an "all or nothing" feel to it, which just takes a little getting used to. After about 3 gear shifts I was shifting as smoothly as I do in my Protege5

I loved the power but I kept stallin' the damn thing...more than likely I could get used to it also. I might have to go back to the dealership and grab another one before they hike the price up too high.

Congrats! I did the P5 -> MS6 switch last summer. The only thing I miss about the P5 is how tossable it was, but that is about it. This car feels much more upscale.

I'd be much more inclined to make the switch if the MS6 was available as a hatch. I had a sedan before the P5, and am now addicted to the convenience of the hatch.
Congrats on the trade. My understanding is that the MS6 rear seat can be modded to fold, if you want to get back that much functionality.

It just requires a few little parts from mazda to get it working.. but there are big steel reinforcements so you don't actually get much passthrough space at all.
