Well, I bought some oil last week as it was on sale. I had planned to change the oil over the ester weekend. Today was the first day I opened the trunk since I bought the oil, well SURPRISE, it spilled all over the trunk carpet. After I was done screaming and cursing and cleaning the trunk, I looked at the oil container, and it had a perfect Philips Screwdriver Star hole in the bottom.
I dunno if some goof at the store poked holes in random oil jugs or what. But I am pissed, now I have to try to get that oil returned, and the carpet replaced. Since nothing is cheap at Mazda, its probably going to be another $50 or so.

That blows. Use Dawn dishwashing liquid to clean it. Won't hurt it and will break down the oil.

I'll try cleaning it first. Just hope the soap won't discolour the carpet!
Thanks for the advice

I washed the s$%t out of it, used lots of dish soap, rinsed and reapplied for an hour. Its getting better, but now its just everywhere. the carpet is almost like a microfiber material that absorbs synthetic oil perfectly!!!!
I will have to get a new one. Its not worth putting it back in like that, even a small amount left on it would ruin what ever you put in the trunk, scuba gear, hockey, dress cloth or whatever!
Thanks for the ideas and thoughts though guys!!
