creaking noise

I hear a strange creaking noise when I start driving every day. It eventually goes away if I drive a long distance. Creaking is the only way I can describe it. It seems to come from the console area, where the gear shift is. It's very annoying. It's really hard to pin point exactly where it's coming from. Anyone else experience this? Any ideas on what this could possibly be? It sounds like something is loose but like I said it will eventually go away. Other than this, I love my 7!!

A member here in the forum has the same problem and pinpointed the problem to the center console latch. Try putting a felt strip and that should solve it.

Amy, I and at least one other of our CX-7 siblings here, reported having a squeak. It was coming from the latch in the center console. Here's a link to the thread. If the link doesn't work, look for the "EEK!! I've got a squeak" thread for more details.
