Too early for hoods just yet...A couple of companies are working on some, but others are putting that last, just performance mods (glare)

I personally like that hood. Gives it the aggressive look in my opinion. I know it will be VERY functional as well. Quick question though- when you're in a rain storm with the modified hood, the rain wont hurt the TMIC correct?

My guess would be no, it may actually help cool the TMIC but I don't really know. Could rain be the poor man's spray kit?

I was thinking the rain would help it since it's mainly cool air and FMICs do have this approach seeing as it's obviously in the front, just waiting to be bashed.

Ouch.. I didnt think it was that much. The price in japan comes to like 500 bucks... thats a 600 profit for corksport and a shipping fee on top of that.
I might have to wait and see what comes out local... ie- this side of the water.

IC is Aluminum, it won't oxidize... but Iw ouldn't make a habit out of letting the poor thing sit in moisture.

Think about how much it costs Corksport to ship it overseas here. It cost $200+ to ship a hood inside the U.S. They must be getting killed with the overseas shipping prices. I doubt they're making that much money.

When you buy in bulk things are a lot cheaper. They also do freight boat shipments which are even cheaper. Corksport imports more than just MS3 hoods.

I am sure you expected the best result I got was from JSP is the end of summer. One company sales rep whose name I will not mention said, "we have the mazda 3 hood that should work fine." After a brief episode of what can best be described as convulsions I let her know that this was not the case and why. Another company said that they did not predict that there would be a demand for that hood and had no plans for development. um...ok

We should get a handful of people to call and make them feel that there's a demand. Any chance you'd post the name of the company the felt there's no demand? or is that against some sort of policy?(spin)

No policy about flaming misinformed companies. It was VIS racing. It would kind of freak them out if a bunch of poeple called. lol. Who knows maybe you will talk to someone that will have a more positive response.

I e-mailed VIS back in January to ask them if they would ever consider makeing a hood for the MS3, guess that's why I never got mailed back.

That hood looks good but the lowered parts at the sides need to be painted body colour.

I had a cf hood on my last car, it was too much of a pain for me to keep from fading. I dont have the energy and patience to keep up with it. If you paint it though thats awesome. I just noticed today how insanely heavy our stock hoods are.

I found a couple on ebay.. for around the 480 + shipping mark. They are vis hoods so they are pretty good. Couldnt you just use a cf hood that would fit on a plain Mazda 3? Youd think there wouldnt be much difference in the styling.. just that one is boosted and ones not.

and yes I do like that hood... but would definitely have to paint it to match the car. Would make it look 100x times better.

The hoods are completely different because of the top mount. The Speed3 hood has a large bulge over the center to clear the intercooler. The standard 3 hood won't fit.

I was thinking about getting a regular 3 hood after I do my fmic setup, BUT I was comparing the 3 styles, the ms3, hb3, sedan3, the hatch hoods grill goes down into the bumper, the sedans hood dosent, however it dosent have the buldge for the fender flares, sooo I think the sedan hood would fit, but it wouldnt look right becuase the fenders would flare up and the hood wouldnt, so there would be a step, which would look rediculous... Soo all the options we have is the $1300 autoexe or whatever that is. I dont even like it :(

alright thanks for clarifying that for me. I wasnt sure, I dont have my MS3 yet so I guess I kinda wrote that without really giving thought to the top mount. And on second look I dont really like the CF look on that red car, maybe the white. I think the hood spans to much of the front of the car, if you know what I mean. If I was to get one Id have it painted to match the body. And corksport.com sells these hoods on their website but they are like 1054.00 + shipping and then you have to get it painted. Actually after checking and making sure...corksport offers somewhat of a body kit for the Speed3's.
