I need to buy a new battery and I am planning on buying an Opitma. I am thinking of buying the Yellow top considering I run a DVD player and my sub flicks the lights. I understand part of this is due to the alternator. Is there a particular model number for the yellow top that the protege 5 takes and if so what is it?
Thanks
Unfortunately Optima does not make a direct-fit replacement (but this never stopped a good number of us from running them) I've got one in each Pro; series 34/78. Basically to make it work you will need to modify (bend) your OEM battery hold-down, fab a custom bracket of your own, or spend as much as the battery costs on a billet battery box like me (eekdance) . Also, if your lights dim when the bass hits - you may just need to install a (size needed) farad cap to solve this issue. The OEM battery usually craps out in 3-4 years so it never hurts to upgrade anyway ...
