View Full Version : How can you mathematically figure the 0-60 from an HP/Torque gain?

I know it's not 100% precise but lets say we go by Mazda's 5.4 secs 0-60 time at Mazda's 263 Hp 280ft lb torque. And we add 24Hp and 24ft lb torque making 283 HP and 304 ft lb torque.

How can you mathematically shave off the 0-60 time as accurately as possible?

Mazda's time is 5.4? I've seen 5.9-6.0 for independant tests.

283/304 0-60? 5.9 seconds

400hp/500tq 0-60? 5.9 seconds.

The limiting factor for 0-60 is traction.

Mazda has been saying 5.4 since launch.
Maybe it was 5.6 but they were def saying something around 5.4-5.6
I'm just curious what the "official" 0-60 would be now.

I've never seen a published Mazda figure. Where did you see it?

Well It was originally on mazdausa right there on the mazdaspeed 3 homepage...
It's gone now.
It was big white letters across the picture of the mazdaspeed 3.
They must have retracted that statement.

Now I feel completely stupid but I'll take it to my grave I saw it :-(

Why bother worrying about the numbers all day. If it's because your friends want to know what your 0-60 is, tell them to STFU and hand them a dyno sheet.

Go to a drag strip and see what you can do with your car. It's the only way to know.
