Oil change

Im going to change the oil in my car tonight for the first time. The owners manual said I would need a special tool to retighten the oil filter, is this true or is it BS?

An oil filter wrench to go on your ratchet and an extension.

i use my hand. works just fine

yeah i just use my hand, you dont want to over tighten the filter, make sure when you take off the old filter that the seal is on it, cause sometimes it gets stuck to the motor
