I am getting the dreaded cat inefficiency error. I have already replaced my os sensors, so its my cat.
Now on the the real question. Where can I get one for a 99 1.8L? I am told that the cat is part of the header (I think thats right), and as such I have to either buy stock, or replace the entire header.
My question is, can I cut off the existing cat, put in a connector, then attach a new cat to it, or if I am racing, switch it our for a straight pipe? I cannot find a diagram of the cat in the header to tell if "in the header" in just attached to the bottom or if its actually INSIDE the header itself.
Either way, suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

There is the exhaust manifold, then the cat, and then the j-pipe. All three can be seperated and replaced individually. I dont know if the cat on the 1.8 is the same as the one on the 2.0 but if so I have one to spare. You could always just get an obx header or the such and just replace everything all together.

I have only seen the obx headers for the 1.6l and the 2.0l. I have yet to see a 1.8l.
If you know of one, let me know!

The 2.0 fits in the 1.8 perfectly... actually most parts that say 2.0 for our generation of protege are the same as the 1.8. So get the 2.0 OBX header like i did :)

That is great news! Now I can switch out a LOT of stuff that I have not been able to find for a 1.8L. (laugh)

yeah us 1.8L users have to look hard for parts specificly for our engine. But those 2.0 parts work great ;)
