got this from a cx-7 driver, but it is the same engine...someone let me know what mazda says

same engine does not mean same ECU.

ECU is what this is referring to, and they are not even close to the same as the CX-7.

The CX-7 and Speed 3 DO have the same base engine, the MZR 2.3L inline 4 however the tuning is different and they have different components in them. The sluggish lack of power in the CX-7 is commonly known as "turbo lag" or, the time it takes for the turbo to "spool up" and produce its power. that problem is confined only to the CX-7 and is not in the Speed 3.
