Read the thread about a reflash.
It's made to fix the rough idling where it sounds like it's dying and so on? And should make boost more consistent?
How do I go about getting my dealer to do this, How much should it cost?
Will there be a problem in the future if I do this and how will it be effected when I add the CAI in a month.

I just had my dealer check for updates when I did the oil change. They plugged it in, saw the update and downloaded the software.
Pretty easy.
It should be free, and if you have problem like rough idle go see your dealer, its a brand new car.... i

No dear, that is not what I meant. It is fine. It is just that this went on for quite some time. The conclusion was that the newer MS3s already were updated. The reflash is also for specific problems like CEL issues. Newer MS3s should not need a reflash. My first one...purchased on Feb 15th, did not need an update because it was already done.

Oh great. I keep thinking that for some reason it is due to something else. Ok so I got mine around April 25th or so...so I should be good. Thanks

I was at Mazda yesterday... no FLASHES available for my production date. The only reason Mazda would build a flash would be for major malfunctions. If you got a flash look at the papaerwork and post the Mazda number of the flash that they loaded. Otherwise, they just reset the ECU back to original settings.
Just my .02 from my experience!!

That explains it. Newer MS3s already have the update. This was determined after MANY weeks of research by many of us here. There is a thread on it somewhere...
My first MS3 -- purchased Feb 15th, had the update.

Your .02 is wrong. Flashes are not designated specifically for major malfunctions. Just to clarify, this update/reflash that yes I needed was for A/F ratio during idle.

Knowledge is correct. Again, just to reiterate, the newer cars should not need that particular update, but you never know when a new one might come out. If you are experiencing any problems with your car, have them check. If you are not --- well if ain't broke, don't fix it.

Got my CAI installed at the dealer (surprise present (attn) ) and they did the update as well, I didn't have to ask. It runs smoother but I also notice the mileage is off by about 1-2mpg since the reflash. We'll see if it adjusts back or the reflash changed it that much.

I think I may need this flash and my car was made in 4/07. The car at idle keeps dropping and raising. I hear the engine/muffler and then it goes quiet for a few seconds then goes loud again.
Also I have noticed a lot of black around the muffler which should have been fixed with the ecu update but my car is after February.

^ Sure the muffler going on and off isnt from having the AC on? My car does the same, but with the ac off it doesnt. I get a black tip after less than a week of driving myself, even pure highway driving. Its pathetic, my car was made in February so im supposed to have the ecu update as well but it doesnt seem like it...
