I havnt been dyno'ed but i would expect 220-230awhp with a low 13sec quartermile at around 102+/-mph. I pull on stock Evos and STI's so i would expect my trap speed to be better then theirs.
Future plans include an 18g turbo with supporting mods plus lots more suspension...looking for a low 12 second pass on these 18's. That will make me happy.

Nice car, I always liked the look of the bug eye'd WRX's... and that red and the rims are awesome! (cool)
Very clean and simple (2thumbs) I'm trying to follow the same path with my MSP ...

I like what you've done, clean and simple. The 18g will be a fun setup!!

thanks for the comments guys. The car is pretty quick but honestly now that im so used to the power...its slow again.
And now i feel really slow after just learning my friend with a Evo VIII just purchased a GT30R turbo and is going to get tuned at Mach V this weekend (wow). He's hoping for 380-400awhp.

I know enough to tell you they're overpriced. Great turbos, but you can get similar results with a cheaper turbo. What trim were you considering?

Well, to be honest, I haven't researched them a whole lot. I was just curious as to how the SR30 relates to the VF22 physically in size and also in performance. I have a turbo kit for the Protege that comes with the VF22 so I was just curious for future upgradability. :D

I love wingless cars. MSPs, EVOs, WRXs....they all look best wingless.

Well i do know a lot about the VF series turbos. The VF22 is the largest of the IHI VF series so therefore the latest in spool time but the best top end. Expect flows of around 490 CFM at 18.0 PSI, though if you're not changing the interals of your protege i highly doubt you'll see that kind of boost pressure. For the cost, the vf22 is hard to beat. Only downside is the fact it uses older technology (roller bearing vs sleeve or ball bearing) but that dosnt matter too much since you are not boosting high numbers. To put in perspective...the vf22 barely outflows the stock STI turbo (vf-39) which i would consider due to the improved spool. And alot of people have managed to push their STI or vf39 equipped WRX's into the very low 12's. let me know if you have any other questions.
thanks for the compliments guys.
edit: forgot to mention, the size of the VF22 (i think) it uses a 40mm compressor wheel with a P20 exhaust housing.

LOL, thanks. I know about the VF22 but I was just curious as to a side by side comparison between it and the SR30 in pictures mostly. It seems to me that the SR30 is more efficient looking at compressor maps and such. I have seen some people say that it has better response as well as equal or better top end compared to the VF22.

oh the APS turbo is going to be much more efficient. I would expect about the same top end if not more, but boost would come on much quicker because of the use of ball-bearings. Most people think ball-bearing turbos are overrated. But those same people think turbo response is mainly just when you can reach max boost and at what RPM. Which is true, but only half of the equation. I try to think turbo response is how long it takes to get back into boost between shifts or letting your foot off the gas...that is when the ball-bearing turbo will show its advantage by slowing down less and therefore boost quicker. That is also when you are paying $1,500++ compared to $600+. If the VF22 kit is decently priced i would jump on that, you certainly will not be disappointed and you can always upgrade the turbo further down the road...or throw some alchy in the mix, retune and up the boost.

How much do you plan on getting for the wrx? If your selling it.

This is my friends 2.5 RS. It was taken last year when we all drove down and participated in the 06 Nopi Nationals in Atlanta, GA. Road down with the Super Street Tour and had a blast!

It's not for sale. I will probably hold on to this car for some time. It has a lot of miles on the clock so ill end up building up a 2.5 or possibly an Axis Power block. Dedicate it as a track car and pick up a 2004 BMW 530i (thats the plan :P)

I've got the vf34 on mine - it's a little faster on spool than the vf39, and has a larger exhaust housing which is known not to crack, unlike the vf39.
I bought my turbo new from Gruppe-S. I love my Subaru.
