So it seems like the Protege 2.0 engines are pretty noisy little beasts... is it just mine or are your guys' pretty noisy too? Mine almost sounds like a diesel when idling... I mean its not loud but just not a constant smooth engine purr... weird. I wonder if its the valves. Do they ever need adjusting or are they self adjusting? What do your engines sound like?
Thanks...

mines relatively loud compared to most cars. It purrs like a dream, tho, just a loud purr. Its a tiger in disguise. =P I think the valves are supposed to have lash adjustments at 60k or something like that, but mine have never been touched and I'm at ~95k now. *off topic* btw, there's a bunch of us cd'a guys going for a little cruise on Sunday and you're more than welcome to come along if you would like.

Mine has 150k miles so its getting there in its age.... :) Depends what kinda oil we use too I think and if the owner before us drove it hard or what not... and each car and engine are different... so theres many factors. But as long as its still driving well and the power is still the same... nothing to worry about probably.
