FS: Custom Protege5 center bezel touchscreen

I am selling my pride and joy so that someone will put this to good use, I have not used my car in a while due to the turbo project. The Lilliput touchscreen works flawlessly with downloaded usb drivers. It's native res is about 840:480 but views 800X600 and 1024x768 without problems. I have always used 800x600. For those in the know, it is a 400 nit screen that in combination with the hooded bezel, should be very readable during the day. I took a few pics of Roadrunner (available at mp3car.com) running on the laptop with and without flash for comparison. I am also including the custom bracket I made so that you can remove the center piece and the touchscreen will still be mounted to the dash frame. The VGA/usb cord is about 5ft long (it's coiled up since I ran vga/usb/audio cables all throughout the P5. The center bezel will mount in any 3rd gen protege/mazdaspeed, but I can only guarantee that my bracket will mate up to the P5 dash frame. The bezel was bought used so it has a few little nicks but doesn't take away from the overall beauty. If you decided to paint the carbon fiber edges, the nicks would be gone. I think it's a good deal at $SOLD shipped for everything.

It comes with a wall mounted plug that I scrounged up so that I could power it up, the original wire was run under my carpet in the P5. It's a standard 12V barrel plug (radioshack) that I had connected to my car pc so that it would come on when the PC was on. The wallmount was just something I found in my junk drawer, I would suggest picking up a tighter plug; this one is a little flimsy.

Nah, this blocks more sun. The touchscreen reflects a lot of light so it was either take the touchscreen off or build the hood.

It probably does help, I have dark ass windows though and i just think it looked better before. Probably would have bought it before it was changed.

You do very nice work though, Care to make me a leadfoot style bezel :)

did you actually had to make the hood and paint it yellow. i mean you could have just cut out an aluminum peice to make the roof!!! that would have been a better choice. and would have made it removable. and the yellow i think its your prob. cuz now they will have to paint their color scheme yellow in the intererior and not alot of people would want that unless they had a yellow car!!! just my opinion.

All I used was spray paints so it can be changed to any color. I was very careful in not using too much so that I got an even spray.

It is only a touchscreen monitor, you have to supply the video to it. It accepts RCA from a dvd player or VGA from a computer.

Guys, All I did to paint it was use spray paint. I first did the grey and decided the yellow was nicer. You can paint it any color you want. Just use blue masking tape to cover the faux fiber edges and that's it.

Some people use their laptop as their carPC...i just through a computer in the back and ran wires and insulation under the carpet.

Super low price!

I made it myself. I get all this flak because it's the wrong color whereas I used spray paints in both instances to get silver or yellow. Very easy to change it's color. I just don't have time because I'm studying for two board exams this May and June.
