well the weather has finally started to break here in western PA so i took the oppertunity to spend some time on the car. i got the car in november and haven t had a chance to wax it because of the winter, and i finally had the chance to really clean the car sunday only to have dirt cling to it like a magnet after 10 minutes, so today at lunch i bought some wax, and hung out after work and re-washed and waxed my car (first time since i bought it) and took the liberty or taking off the side mouldings because IMO the car just looks cleaner w/o it, plus i figured why not use some of the tools from work to mak ethe job eaiser and kill 2 birds w/ one stone. im still debating on the 2.3 emblems but for now they will stay. give it about another month and i will be installing my mazdaspeed spring kit i got a few weeks back from tonkin

its a nylon wedge that you attach to what is basically a varible power air chissel than an eraser wheel followed by a wash, some glaze and wax. i work at a body shop so it helps when it comes to this sort of thing

my friend completely romoved the side moulding and de baged it, so i say take off the 2.3 it will look alot cleaner, the problem with romoving the side mouldings is that if someone hits you from the side your basically fucked

I read a guide somewhere that said to use a hairdryer or heat gun to warm up the adhesive and then use dental floss (better than fishing line due to wax on it, has way less chance to scratch the paint) to cut through the adhesive and pull off the moldings. Then use goo-be-gone or some other type of solvent to remove the excess adhesive.

I'd say to remove the 2.3 emblems also... looks out of place now that you removed the mouldings. I'm liking the yellow fogs, are the bulbs also yellow?

I just bought a Mazda 3 four door and want to make some body modifications, does anyone know if the Mazda emblem on the back of the car is just glued on or does it have the prongs?

Agreed - I'd take 'em off as well - just imo.

The Mazda amblem has holes/prongs, the other emblems on the rear don't :)

Wish that was the same with the MSP! Friggin' holes on both sides - prefer the clean debadged look myself (w/middle emblem still in tact)...shitty. (rant)

Looks good. I debadged and removed my side moldings on my Speed 3. And it looks so much cleaner. Just used dental floss and a hair dryer, they came right off, the adhesive didn't even stick to the door, just stayed on the molding. But Goo-Gone is good for getting the adhesive off.

I have to agree with everyone else on removing the 2.3 badges also. They just look out of place without the side moldings there.
