Does anyone know what the difference is between the 1.8L and 2.0L Injen CAI systems? I have a 1.8L, and found some for sale in the classified, but they are all MSP or 2.0L fitment. Will these work on my car?
Thanks,

any bolt-on that works for the 2.0L works for the 1.8L. However, there is a difference for the CAI for the MSP, since it's turbocharged it's using pressurized pipes for the compressed air and therefor the air filtration system is different than the one in the regular 2.0 and 1.8L cars. Do not purchase the MSP CAI for your 1.8L(but if it says it's for the N/A 2.0L then it'll fit), and don't make the same mistake as me and buy an expensive Injen or K&N, go on ebay and get a chepo RAI or CAI, it just dosen't make sense to spend $250 for 1-2 extra HP.

Thanks for the info. I wonder why they have a seperate part number for the 1.8L and 2.0L then? While I do want every bit of HP I can get (I am a competitive autocrosser), this is just going to be a temporary mod to hold me over untill I get my ITB setup going. I was thinking of just getting a used Injen, and selling it off when I was done with it. I've just heard stories about ebay intakes-for various cars- that dont' improve power at all. But if that's not the case, I'll just go for the ebay one and save the cash. And if it does work fine, I should be able to sell that when I'm done as well.

well, like I said, if the CAI for the 2.0L is for the MSP 2.0L, then it's going to be different than the one for the 1.8 and N/A 2.0L. Injen probally made a 1.8L SOHC CAI for the 2nd gen protege too, so that would be a different part number.

well, metal tubing is all the same, all you're really paying for is the filter, and $175 is alot for a filter. If you absolutely must have one, getting it used is the right idea. Buy a K&N recharger kit @ walmart if the filter needs cleaning, don't spend the premium for new.
