I was told that it would work at the place I purchesd it. They told me that all I would need was ECU diagram.

Did they also tell you that your muffler bearings were worn?

I just had to change mine too. Gotta watch those, they tend to go bad with mods.

where did you buy it from and did they personally install it on a mazdaspeed or regular protege? i'm not trying to bust on them or you, its just that air fuel controllers like the Apexi line have not been found to work on these vehicles.

Sell the Apexi Afc on ebay and get either a dsmconvert AFC (protegegarage) or unichip.

I adjusted my boost controller so i can boost 10 psi but as it gets to the 10 psi it quickly goes back down to 6 psi. The mods i have done are small. I have installed a skunk 2 exhaust and a front mount intercooler whith a greddy blow off valve , I also put in the injen cold air intake on it. I have a greddy turbo timer and I have two gauges, The air and fuel gauge and The boost gauge.

10psi with no fuel management is risky my friend... I melted a piston...

They were wrong..

This ECU leans and adapts, so it will simply learn any changes away..

how does it learn around the afc neo thing and not the DSM AFC

the DSM AFC relies on MAP signal whereas Apexi units try to work with the MAF signal, which the ECU is very resistant to.

someone correct me if i am wrong.

Thats is correct Ken. And as you stated earlier thats why an Apexi AFC wont work with the MSP.

DSM AFC, Unichip(w/ JDM SAM tune) Microtec, etc etc. There are plenty of other options out there. Contact Protegegarage.com , *************.com and other vendors, they are all very helpful to get your MSP tuned :)

Wait, the MSP has a MAP sensor? or is that what the vac line for the AFC is for????

Wait, the MSP has a MAP sensor? or is that what the vac line for the AFC is for????

It has a MAP connected in the right side of the engine compartment. It will not allow for modifications however. It should not be tampered with.

The primamry Air/Fuel control is derived from the Mass Air.

If you need to add a Map, it should come with your AFC.

that is what the vacuum line on the AFC is for.

the MAP sensor in a protege is located on the back side of the passenger side strut tower, tiny mitsu logo atop it
