Just wondering if anyone has the improved EGR valve FSY1-20-300-9U. It's supposedly revised to keep buildup from occuring. Is it worth the $120 or should I just clean (and keep cleaning :() the old EGR valve?

The question you should ask ,is my time worth 120 bucks to keep removing the EGR valve and cleaning it or do i take the chance with the new valve . I have a 01 LX and never have had a problem with the EGR valve .

i was wondering the same thing.
if nothing else, if you have 2 it should make the process of changing it much quicker, as you would have a clean one on hand to pop in.

No doubt it's worth $120 IF it actually fixes the problem. The question is, has anyone who has installed the revised part had any problems thereafter?

cool, let us know. Mine was fine at 60k miles, I should never have touched it. I have a feeling the chemicals we use to clean the buildup only makes the problem come back faster..

I've heard that even the revised version has issues.

That was my take after reading the 25 page how-to thread on cleaning it.

Supposedly Mazda redesigned the part with a shield to prevent corrosion/carbon buildup on the valve, but I can't make it out in those pics.
