Just picked up my 2007 Mazdaspeed6 GT Black from the dealer, 3000 down 295 a month for 27 months. Nice little lease for an evil rolling demon. Weirdest clutch ever, but i LOVE 6th gear. WOW. I drove a 1992 240sx previously and it was perfect for what it was, but this is just rediculous.

thanks bro, my first question is...what can i do to this car that will not void warrantee because it is a lease and i have to trade it in for a 2010 rx8 hahah.

lol
as far as engine...i have heard the CAI from around here...although when I called my dealer they said it would...so i guess, engine-wise, not much if not nothing. MInor stuff like engine mounts and gauges might not void it.
But hey...feel free to put some shoes on it or something. :D

CAI and Exhaust (Cat-Back) shouldn't be a problem. Start removing cats, downpipes and other emission stuff and say bye bye warranty.

Having leased before, I'd say leave it alone. For the reason that your initial investment in a lease is more than a buy and you don't want to trade the car back in with the mods because you will get ZERO for them and then you have to go through the hassle of taking them off. If anything, a CAI. Not hard or time consuming to install or remove.
I picked up my 2007 Titanium Grey back on January 12th, and like you say:
- wierdest clutch ever (I thought it was just me!)
- 6th gear is unreal
- the whole car IS ridiculous
I used to drive a blown '99 Miata (213rwhp), so the horsepower feels familiar but the turbo comes on so non-linear...
Do you have problems at lights and stop sign intersections, where your launch starts out nice and civilized, but then the engine reaches 3K RPM and the turbo kicks in and the car SHOOTS forward like you want to race - but you don't? Very embarassing. The thing is similarly a little hard to keep reigned in when driving in stop-and-go traffic.

The best way I've found to keep this to a minimum in to keep the RPM's under 3k, like shift when you hit 2500. This pretty much keeps you out of the turbo and makes you look less like your trying to race grandma in er '89 buick. (cabpatch)

this is the car i am learning stick on, since i never drove stick in my life. so obviously i have problems at stop lights. 1st gear is way too trippy especially even with traction and dsc. I think Mazda needs to govern 1st gear more with the DSC on.
Highway driving is absolutely glorious. I've embarassed many many many audis and bimmers. I have been stared down by old men in backwards Kangol hats siting in their Boxster squinting at my exhaust.
If you can get into 4th quick enough, in-town driving is also super pleasant. 4th to 2nd in cornering is fantastic at 2000rpm because as soon as you straighten out, the turbo instantly kicks in and you can jump to 3rd. I wish 1st was as civilized and predictable as 2nd. I do not bring my 1st gear RPMs past 3000.
Switching from reverse to 1st I have to do a double take cuz I think i feel it click out of pushed-down position but then i'm wrong as i continue to move backward lol. MAZDASPEED6s need a gear display haha (stick n00b)
It may just be begginers misfortune. I am so novice.
Sometimes I feel like my clutch switches from mid-disengagment to end-disengagement. Like its messing with me cuz it knows I'm gonna rip on it as soon as i see 1000miles

Sounds like you are giving her a lot of gas to start out in first. You'll get used to it eventually. As far as taking it out of reverse, you have to take it to neutral anyways, so just do that and make sure you aren't pressing down (or resting your hand on top of) the shift knob and it will take car of the rest.
P.S. So people say new car break-in periods are bad, some say they are good. I haven't seen many negative or positive effects either way. Therefore, I say drive it like you stole it from day one. Well maybe you shouldn't until you get used to the clutch though.

I say take it easy for the first 500miles then change the oil and look at all the metal shavings......then drive it like you stole it. (cabpatch)

you say change the oil after 500miles. is this a time where i can switch to synthetic? or should i just do the norm with this car. i forget that this is a lease all the time and that i dont have to really care so much, not like i dont. but if synthetic is worth it, at what mileage? some people told me 6000miles, after the regular oil does its magic.

That clutch was a deal breaker for me... but congrats. Overall, it's a helluva car. So what's the mileage restriction on your lease? I've thought about leasing but there's no way in hell I'd be able to keep it under 12k (and even 15k/year) would be tough.... Seems l ike a good deal though.

mileage is 10.5k a year, but even in my 240sx which i had for 2 years that with suspension, HBackExhaust, HFCat, k&n, getting something like 28mpg going 100mph, i still couldn't put 10,000miles on it in a year and a half. Thats the good thing about Jersey. The longest trip you take is like 45 miles lol.

I thought I couldn't either. Then I leased my IS300 for 15k for 3 1/2 years figuring I could use the extra 6 months as a cushion to stay under my miles. At year 3, I was still under 30K. I drove it like a mf the last 6 months to get it to 38K. Still lost money. I should have bought it looking back, but then I'd probably still have it.
Oh and Super Shredder, nice car. Just take off the dealer's front plate add. :)
yeah, the plate has to go. As for the clutch, it's gets better as it gets older, and you do get used to it pretty quick. Even my woman doesn't notice it anymore.
Personally, I wouldn't hammer on the gas until a few thousand miles though. I believe in slow break in periods.

So that's how the payments are so low then. I've never heard of a lease with a mileage restriction at 10k. But then again, for you... that's perfect so it's irrelevant. As for me... when you're in outside sales and are seemingly in your car more than you're not, leases aren't even close to doable.

i dont even have liscence plates yet its too fresh! policia in NJ were born to pull you over in your brand new car, therefore if you keep your local dealer plates on they just glare at you as you downshift.

LOL I haven't see your pics (F Myspace) but, if I'm hearing you correctly, you're saying that you're less likely to get pulled over if you have dealer plates on. If you're talking about ACTUAL license plates (and not the promotional plastic frames) then my first question is.... why the hell do you have those? Maybe things are different in NJ but, here in CT, they give you those temp/paper "plates" so you can ruin your back windsheild by taping them on. As far as I know... the "dealer plates" are for... umm... dealers.
Now then, if you're refering to the actual plastic frame they give you (along with any other way they can promote their dealership at your expense) then... all I gotta say is, get that shit off your car NOW! Seriously... I just shake my head when I see people driving around with decals from their dealership or license plates. I mean... did you love the experience THAT much??? few things are more tacky. i'd rather have a "W '04" bumper sticker still stuck on my... hmm... nah, second thought I take that back. dealership plates are much cooler.

Definitely perform the clutch mod linked above. It is like night and day and only takes 10 minutes once you study the photos. There are no parts to buy...all you need is a 12mm wrench and a flash light.

Gotta agree with Chico here. You aren't paying $300/month to be a driving advertisement for your dealership. I fucking hate that crap.

I said it first! My dealer put a sticker on my car. PITA to remove.

I won't buy a car from a dealer that puts stickers on the cars they sell, that is BS. I also told my salesperson that I wanted the plate frame removed and he didn't have any problems with that.

I would equate it to leaving a century21 sign with the name of the selling agent on the front lawn of your new home...for the rest of your life!
Would you mow around it and display it proudly? Fuck no. So why advertise the seller of the 2nd most expensive thing most of us buy in our lifetime?

GT for 22K with 1800 miles on it. I couldn't let that go, sticker or no sticker.

Assuming the car wasn't beat on by it's first owner, that seems like a pretty good deal. (A savings of about $2500 for a car with almost 2k miles seems about right... hell, I'd probably buy it!) I'm sure you looked into it but so it's probably a non-issue but I'd be nervous. I mean, why the hell would someone buy a car.. barely drive it, then sell it? Sticking with the house analogy... it might be the equivalent of someone buying a house that's a lot more than they can afford... then being forced to foreclose. (Or it might be some dude that won the lottery and figured it was time to upgrade) All I know is... whenever I see a car like that I wonder what the backstory was.

Demo/lot car maybe?

If it is less than 5K it is usually a demo or manager's personal car. CarFax should tell you whether the title changed hands and it was registered or not. If it wasn't it had dealer plates on it the whole time.
CHICO2003

For "car enthusiasts" that could be even worse. Demo/Manager cars are fine for people in the market for a deal on... I don't know, a honda accord type car. Even if the manager beat on the car (and he did) it's not the end of the world. Same goes with test drives. (though, generally speaking, those who are in the market for a mundane car like an accord aren't going to beat on it during the test drive). That logic goes out the window with a car like the MS3 though. If it's a "demo" (which would be weird considering the limited availability not to mention perceived demand) than I'm wondering what 16 year old came in and drove the piss out of it (with or without the D*bag salesguys's permission). If it's a manager car well... think about the types of people who get into car sales in the first place. I know it might sound mean since there's definitely a ton of really good people out there but, by-in-large, most are scum... and managers are no different, they've just been there longer.
I don't know... maybe I'm being too cynical but... for a car like this, I'd probably be more inclined to just buy new (preferably right off the truck).
Demo/lot car maybe?
It was indeed the manager's demo car. And I met his old ass. I'm pretty sure he could be retired by now, but the job and money are so easy, so why do it?
