I honestly would buy something already with a turbo. These motors dont hold up well to high boost, and you will probably blow out your auto tranny before the motor. It takes a lot of time, money, and work to properly turbo this motor we have.

yeah thats what its starting to look like even the msp doesnt hold up all that well. im going to go for the klze swap ive been intending to do it for a year now and didnt due to the fact i thought you couldnt turbo the motor due to lack of room. it turn out you can so im going for the swap. same cost as a turbo and tune!!

Yeah, that sounds better. The MSP people even below there motors like you said, and people that have turboed their P5s have went through 3 motors and really wish they had stayed n/a at that point.

20k miles turbo'd auto..5psi, tranny's fine...i don't beat it though...it's just what the dr. ordered for my slowmatic...but i would say, with all the $$ and work, you may find something just as good if your not into proteges(dunno)

Did you have to change any of the internals of the motor?

wow...i was looking at the complete turbo kit from protegegarage.com. My problem is i'd have to find someone to slap it on and tune it. Was it hard for u to tune? All I want is about 200 hp at the wheels and i'm str8.

klze is the jdm version of the probe/626/mazda mx-6 motor 2.5 v-6. it bolts right up to the protege you need engine/trans/ecu/wiring harness/p/s componets..200hp/165 tq i think it redlines at 7000 rpm weighes 74-100 lbs more the fs motor and if you get the kl06 ( us 2.5 ltr v-6 ) its from what i here boost friendly turbo or supercharger. i heard with just 7-8 lbs boost people run 250-260 hp..

Yah the only difference between the P5 engine and MSP engine is the MSP is turboed. So it would be best in my opinion to boost a better built motor.

Isn't this almost the same motor that Ford put in the Contour SVT? The last year they built that one it was listed at 205hp I think.

hasn't been tuned yet won't be until we get the minor problems fixed. but It defenitly has more power then it did before. in the next couple weeks we are going to cap the boost at 6 psi and later this summer around july or aug I will take it to protegegarage and get it tuned also throughout the year I will be upgrading the IM and a midpipe

then its onto interior!

Good luck with that...as soon as I get everything on mine fixed, MAYBE in the fall I'll be looking for a nice turbo setup.

i dont think it is..in 1999 the mercury cougar used the same 2.5 ltr as the svt they also shared the same 2.0 4 cyl platform in their crapy base model cars which was the 2.0 zetec motor..and from recent research on that motor it is far from being the fsde motor it shares diffrent motor mounts...so no idont think its the same motor
