cant find a how to on thermostat replacement on a msp. ive never done it before and would like to attempt to do it myself. however i dont know where the thermostat is or how to change it, help plz thanks

You really don't need one. There are two bolts to remove to take the water neck off. Our thermostats have a rubber gasket around them. There is no gasket for the water neck. Note the position of the original thermostat, take it out, transfer the rubber gasket on to the new one(most parts stores t-stats do not come with it) and put the water neck back on and tighten up the bolts. Nippon makes a thermostat that is exaclty like what is in the MSP. Its part number G4000-102352 and it comes with the rubber gasket. I've seen pictures of the current Mazda unit available and it does not look like what came in my MSP. Autopartsplace has the Nippon for $15.67.

Its a low rpm job. Good luck.

It is located to the left of the s-pipe. You'll see it from the top w/o the heatshield or from underneath on the front of the block.
