my brakes were squeeking bad and so i bought some brake pads and replaced all of them. now my left front brakes are sqeeking louder than before. the squeek if higher in pitch when i steadily step on the brakes to where the car slows dow nvery slowly. but when i press the brakes hard, i dont hear the high pitch squeek but instead a low non-continual squeek. as in it goes on then off then on and off etc. any suggestions? if not i'm just going to go to Midas and let them check it. thanks in advance!

on our mazdas, you absolutely need to clean/put some grease on the sliders,(the calipers guiding pins)wich the caliper slides on!
i am about 95 % sure you forgot to do it...its a known problem on our cars,so check that out,and come back with news buddy!(eek2)

When you replaced the pads, were the caliper sliders lubed up as well?

Definitely a bit of anti seize/brake lube on the slider pins and also make sure you did reuse the spring clips that help hold the pads apart. I know some people skip the clips and the pads tend to ride the rotors and can make noise.

yeah, lube the slider pins good and you will decrease the noise. make sure your pads are not sticking to your rotor.

Squealing is more likely to be caused by either the pad material itself (if so, there's not a lot you can do about it), or vibration between the piston face and the pad backing when the brakes are applied.
In the latter case, you can get anti-squeal goop and spread over the back of the pads (or the shims), which reduces this vibration (and noise). Incidentally, they are not called "anti-squeal" shims for nothing!
A sticking caliper guide pin does not produce squealing by itself, but can result in dragging brakes, which themselves may squeal due to the reasons above.

to get to the pads, there are only 2 bolts to remove the caliper then put them in? or is thre a way to get to the pads without taking the caliper off the rotor?

On either end of the caliper. The pic shows the pins out, where the small black rubberseal is.

how do you remove it. i dont understand it really. when i replaced all 4 rotors, i just unscrewed the 2 big bolts that takes off the entire caliper. i didnt know there was a way just to take half of it off to get to the brake pads. does anybody have a pic of the pins or a quick how to? this would be helpful, thanks!

If you look on the rotor the other half is still there. He already pulled them apart. Thats all you need to do... pull. (first)

"I had the same problem when I installed my cross drilled/slotted rotors with (metal performance) brake pads. They grinded like crazy and sqeaked. As a resolution it was the type of material my rotors vs my brake pads. I changed to Ravens performance (ceremic pads) and it went away."
this quote was picked out from a previous thread. is this true? should i just buy a high performance ceramic pad?

kevlar/metallic like hawks should be ok. Got over 55k of great with 25% left with my c/s rotors. Noise free & no worse than oem dusting.............ceramic good too

if the sound is more gritty and metallic, you probably need to turn the rotors. especially if you have the stock rotors on it right now. that sounds to me like they are warped. i just put a set of copper-ceramic pads on mine last week. i'll let you know if the reviews of them are as good as they say

i recommend a set of copper-ceramics, they will probably out-live the car.
