I bought a 2.5" mid-pipe with vibrant high-flow cat from protege garage about 4-5months ago, read from other's responses that they didn't need a MIL eliminator since the cat provided enough backpressure to fool the ECU to not throw a CEL, so I figure since the 1.8L has only one cat anyway that I should be fine, and I was, sort of, It would be okay for 3-4k before it would throw a CEL. However, and I don't know if this is just normal, but ever since I swapped the cat for my stock exhaust (even with a blown stock cat) There's always been alot of black dust (guessing it's carbon) build-up on the trunk area of the car, it always shows up only there and gets over everything, the trunk, the bumper, everything. Now, having put about 10k or so on it (100mile trips to work..) I run about 30miles before the CEL comes on. Just wondering if that means anything's gone wrong with the cat, since other's have had success without a MIL eliminator.
