Ticking Noise

My Mazda 3 has 74k miles and for the last 50 miles i have been hearing a ticking noise. NO its not the oil (i know i am a chick, but not dumb)...
Any ideas what it could be? sounds like it is coming from the drivers side close to the steering wheel (under the hood).

Check the solonoid on the piping going to the throttle body. If you've remounted it on the firewall for whatever reason, or if it's come off it's piping mount, it can cause an audible ticking sound exactly like what you're describing.

does the ticking noise increase once u accelerate..like get faster, louder or anything?

how audible is it can you only hear it outside the car or can you hear it driving around? and as crz asked does it increase and decrease in frequency as you accelerate/decelerate?
