I am thinking about getting a MS3 but don't like stick....I live in Brooklyn, and stopping every block with stick really is annoying. Trust me, my dad had a stick porsche.....wasn't a fun ride. So I was wondering if the MS3 comes in auto.

i'd agree, but you don't know brooklyn man. or any another part of nyc really. horrible traffic throughout most hours of the day. i remember many times sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the belt pkwy, or on the LIE, etc, and this is at weird hours like 3am or 4am.

To automatic I say BAH!! But if it must be, the MS3 is not your car since it doesn't come in auto.

Exactly. I really don't want to be switching gears in bumper to bumper traffic. If I lived in an open state like New Jersey or something it would be much easier. Maybe I will pick up the regular Mazda3.

Theres no point in getting that car down there. It'll get dinged by people parallel parking, you'll never utilize the power and your insurance agents gonna send you christmas presents when you add that to your policy.

If you want a car for stop and go, bumper to bumper traffic....get a comfy car with an auto and a 4 banger. Seriously, no need for it. If you can afford it, get an old beater Accord (like me) or Camry and keep the MS3 or whatever else for fun.

I really want a hatch car. I don't know why but I just love them haha. Why do you say that it will get dinged up parallel parked?

Because people don't care and will destroy your front and rear bumper on your ms3. I have actually seen it when I was a student in Chicago. I would actually stare at the person while shaking my head as they hit another vehicle either going in or out. Not a good 'city' car.

I lived here my entire life, and non of my dad's benzs, BMWs ever get messed up. I don't need the speed as I'm not going to street race either way, and the manual tranny just isn't compfortable with a lot of street lights. I love the look of the car and everything about it so why not =/.

Dont do it. Get a manual. I live in the city and endure my share of traffic. You get use to it. Its really not as bad as people make it out to be. It becomes second nature. I love manual!

I used to say that...now I find myself wishing that I had my wife's car in stop and go.

I guess its personal choice. IDK driving autos just makes you loose the whole feel of the car.

Driven auto for almost 10 years. I have never felt me loosing the 'feel' of the car.

I should mention though that an N/A Pro with intake/exhaust is harder to drive in stop and go. It just wants to buck. I hope that when the turbo install is done it will actually be easier to drive. LOL.
On topic: For the most part, I do love my 5 speed but if I spend a lot of time in stop and go, I get tired of it really quickly. I think an Auto 3 will make you happy.

Manual in stop and go gives you bad foot cramps. =)
I'd also say go with reg Mazda 3, auto and if you really like the MS3 look, you can always get the Mazdaspeed body kit that will improve it's looks and bring it closer to the speed.
Go for VW GTI with DSG if you dont like stick. No point in buying quick car with slush box (cough* IS350 cough*)

My wife's grandmother lives off Ocean Pkwy. Parking there is insane. I see people bumping peoples bumpers all the time trying to fit in places they have no business attempting to and they never seem to care. Im sure if your away from the hustle and bustle out there you'd be fine but the places I've been in Brooklyn I'd never bother having a nice car.

I live on Ocean Parkway, ave. P and Quinten Road to be exact. Small world.

Get the MS3. The effort required to disengage the clutch is non-existent compared to other manuals I've driven.

Just grow some stones and get the MS3 already. If you dont like stick....dont get it. If you want to street race or not street race this car would be fine.....

Jersey, having the highest population density in the nation, has shitty traffic problems as well.
I don't mind driving in stop & go traffic with a manual trans....just keep it in 1st or 2nd and gradually speed up when you can, and coast (and engine brake due to the gear) to slow down instead of using your brakes.
