¿¿¿ cluster help ???

Anyone know if I want to get a instrument cluster from a 2000 protege, are the harnesses the same? There is a few on ebay from junkyards and they have black faces. It looks the same exact as the new protege's... They say something about "without keyless entry." Is there going to be any problem with this if I get it?

go to the how-to forum, and look for the "gauge dissasemly" thread - follow that thread to dismantle your stock cluster and the other one - then replace the actual gauges with the others. you won't be able to swap complete assemblies with out problems. however, the gauges themselves will swap without problems.

why on earth would you want to switch to a 2000 cluster?

it has black gauges, and I can modify it without messing with the stock one.

oh you just mean modify it to work in your car, i thought you meant modify the actual display somehow or something...my bad

Well, I'd like to use another cluster so I can leave my stock one stock. So I can do whatever I want to the 2nd cluster.

I dunno what it was with mine but when I tried swapping a 2000 cluster into my car it wouldnt work. All the lights would come on but the tach and gauges wouldnt work. I bought another one from an 03 lx and it all worked fine.
