personal preference. I did the first one at 1000 miles. And from now on will be doing it every 5000 miles. reminds me I need to call them on monday and schedule an appointment.

I do the first oil change on a new car at 500 miles. Gets rid of all the "crap" from the break-in.

3000 is fine. A lot of manufacturers have service messages out to their dealers concerning the first oil service. Because of additives that are put in when the engine is manufactured most of them want the first oil change not to happen before at least 3000 miles. It's up to you, but I would wait until 3K miles!

yeah im rollin on up on 2k, and i plan on changing it then. thinking of motorcraft semi syn 5w-30...dealerships are horrible, i've called 5 int he area with mix ups between saying they come with semi-syn and non-syn from factory...messy people...
on the same note, i plan on changing my oil every 2k which is what i've always done in the past.

Most dealers do a courtesy check at 1000 miles just to make sure everything is OK with the car. At least that's what the last two I've went to have done. They didn't charge for it either.
