View Full Version : DSM-AFC wont work

all the connects are done and everything powers up but when i click connect to ecu it just says error cannot connect to ecu and also on the R4 software it wont let me type in any customer info. has anyone else had this problem? ive gone through all the setting and went over my wiring a million times and still nothing...just says error comunication with the ecu.

hey man, i was messing with the r4 software installed on my laptop and it lets me enter in new cust info. im sure u tried that right? it just wont let u doit? can u take screen shot?

the only way it lets me mess with customer info is if i load the R4 demo..but on the R4 controller is dont let me do shit..im gonna go to the website see if i can d/l the R4 software..maybe thatll work.

oh yea and my afr is 20 sitting still when i more the car it goes to 14.5

I know whats going on now. this got me too. click on new cust, it opens up window so u can type in ur new name. just pick wbriggs. then click on it. itll go to r4 screen, then go to open cust then click on the new file name u just choosed. then itll let u type in all ur info. i juts did it few minutes ago.

ok try getting rid of that extended usb cable then. and try com ports 1 thru 4
my comp wouldndt let me go past port 2. i think i used prt 2 i remeber port 1 was ging me the same shit ur running into now. i kn ow for a fact the afc is fine its just either a cable issue or laptop isnt talking to the serial cable.

yea the laptop wasnt talking to the serial cable...i took the extension off of it last night when i was messing with it. but it connected to port5 so im on now thanks so much for all the help..

i just drove the car 2 days before i posted it for sale. now tune ur shit!!lol

oh and follow these inst from dsm convert, it took me few hrs to find this when i 1st got my afc and i didnt know how to copy other peeps maps and upload it to the afc.
hereit is.\
. To correctly upload a map to the afc you need to open the file you wish to upload. For example if you downloaded a map named 440lcruz, you'll need to first open the r4 sofware go to the file dropdown, select open and then find/select the 440lcruz file. ONce you have done this click connect to ecu and goto the drop down menu at the top and select map a. Now at the top left corner of the "excel" sheet will be 2 buttons, one to download the current map and one to upload the new map to the ecu...you want to write map to ecu...this will take a few minutes depending on the speed of your connection. ONce this is done then click the disconnect from ecu button and close the software...
