alright guys, the car is in the paint shop and I am kind of skeptical about a certain area... the whole car is getting painted another shade of blue and the hood is going to have the sides painted blue too. My issue is, I don't know if I should have them paint the roof in between the black strips this charcoal/ black color that resembles the color of carbon fiber, or just have it painted body color too... post your thoughts and vote please..
being that I dont have a picture here at work if you want to see pics of the car to somewhat get an idea do a search in the appearance section for "another what do you guys think pics thread"
I already have a carbon fiber hood and trunk... sorry I forgot to mention it...

IMHO no...
Only because, it will only ever look CLOSE to CF. Its not actual CF, so no I dont think you should paint the hood "carbon fiber" charcoal.
and if youre going with a diff. shade of blue, what are you painting it? Are you doing inside the door jambs and engine bay too?

Well, I do a lot of shows and a custom paint job is always a plus, and there are a couple of minor door dings I wanted to get rid of from when it was a daily driver... yes the jams are getting painted too, but not in the engine bay. The hood itself is carbon fiber and so is the trunk. If I were to do this, it would be like how some people do a two tone paint job with the black and what ever color they choose

paint it the same shade of blue as the rest of the car unless getting a two tone. the black and stock color two tones are getting played out.

I think you should just get a real carbon fiber hood and put a transparent candy color over it. Now THAT would look hot. :) Just my 2 cents.

I thought you were getting rid of your car??? I would paint it the color of the rest of the body.

just get the same color vinyl close to the color of the Cf. i just got Black. The trick is u have to get in contact with a sign company not a graphic sign company.. They only have 30" wide maybe. A major sign copy will have 60" wide industrial vinyl with a UV coating.. mine has a 10 yr warranty not to fade. Keep in mind that it will cost up to $20-$50 a ft .. i got mine for CHEAP, 80" long, lol.. hook ups thanks...my buddy worked for a sign company who also makes neon signs, etc... good luck in your search

Well, the car has been at the paint shop for the past couple of days, and it isn't going to cost anymore either way... thanks for the idea though

you should keep the roof the same as the rest of the body. if anything remove the black strips and fill them in. I have thought about doing this for a long time. I just dont really care about the outside of my car yet

My vote is keep it the same color blue as the body... a black roof will look ok in the shade but as soon as the light hits it, it'll look off. There's nothing quite like light reflecting off carbon. BTW how much is this paint job running you if you don't mind, i'm just curious how much full paint jobs are running these days.

I say do the roof the charcoal/black color. it's a wrx around here like that and it looks good. I think it would look even better on a blue car a with cf hood.
