I got my CEL scanned and it said somthing about a warmup cat that isnt working. What is that, is it hard to replace. Is it a big problemo

how many miles are on your car? i think cats are covered under warrenty for up to 90k or so

I have about 78000 miles, I bought the car used, its in alright condition, am I still under warranty? Where do i bring it into, a mazda dealer?

^^ I think it's like a 7 year warranty so you should be good. Take it to the dealership and tell them that you think your precat is bad (that's the "warm up" cat.

If they won't cover it under warranty you can stop the check engine light permanently for about 3 dollars.

Nope, you dont need anything. Your cats are covered by Mazda for up to 80k miles due to government regulations about emissions.

This is true. So do it before you hit the 80K and unless you gut the cat and then use a nonfouler you are asking for trouble. Once the ceramics in the cat get too hot due to the O2 sensors throwing the codes they will melt down and crack causing chunks to come out and get lodged at the second cat. It would cost a pretty penny to replace it all when all you had to do is gut the cat.

But yes, get to the dealership before 80K.

In canada it's 5 years, unlimited mileage.
