Anyone else having a similar problem...I just replaced (last weekend) the trans fluid with Royal purple which seems to have made the problem a little more apparent...Its only when the car is cold and when the weather is cold that it is bad, I try to shift from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 or down shifting from 4 to 3...and 3 gives me a little grind sometimes...I don't beat the car and the previous owner seemed to take car of it so I have no clue why or what is causing it...any suggestions maybe some new shift bushings? It just seems weird to me since it sonly when the weather is cold out, I originally though it was just the fluid but changing that didn't help....

any suggestions or insight would be great, thanks...Matt

i've also heard that royal purple does that..

thats why i went with GM syncromesh in mine.. i have -20 degrees ALOT lately and i must say the oil is great!

i had that in my 3 previous cars.

Yup, I totally agree... GM Syncromesh. I actually did some research before using the GM oil and it was specially formulated for the new Corvettes.

Before putting it in I was getting that occasional hard to get into reverse, but since the putting it in the shifting is baby smooth.

Weird. Last year I got copied on an email from a Pennzoil tech who said that their Synchromesh (same GM formulation) was not a good choice for the G-series Mazda tranny. I can't begin to guess what he based that on. It seemed smooth enough for me when it was in there, but I changed it out anyway after that.

I now run 2 qts. RP 75/90 to 1 qt. RP 75/140 and have no problems, even with temps getting into the teens. Overall it's very smooth except for a slowness for the 1st gear synchro to spin up when gearing down from 2nd, and I've always had that.

I have some tough shifting first thing in the morning on cold days. I am also running GM Syncromesh. Once the car warms up a bit it's smooth again...usually only a minute or two of driving.

My shifting was really stiff when I changed to RP also, almost to the point where I was going to drain it out and go with the Redline. But after a good 500miles or so it shifts smoother than ever. Give it some time...
