These are actually the V70 not the XC70.

Power for the V70 will come from at least four engines: a 2.4L diesel four-cylinder producing 143 hp and 250 ft-lbs. of torque, a five-cylinder diesel producing 185 hp and 295 ft-lbs. of torque, a 2.5L turbo gas engine making 285 hp and 221 ft-lbs. of torque and a range-topping 3.2L inline-6 that generates 285 hp and 295 ft-lbs. of torque. A high-performance V8 model is also expected to be announced in the near future. Safety equipment meets or exceeds the standard set by Volvo with Dynamic Traction and Stability Control, active damping control, optional AWD and what we're sure will be an impressive number of airbags.

It's hard for anyone to argue that the wagon is dead when automakers like Volvo put the time and money into making one this good looking and capable. Of course, these details apply to the European model, which will officially be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
