I just ordered a Fujita intake off of ebay. I got it for 215 shipped.

WHo has a fujita in here that likes theirs? Any issues?

I have read numerous times on this forum that the CAI are basically all the same so go with the cheapest and 215 was the cheapest I could find so far.

Just waiting for it to come in now

I have mine installed for over a month and no complaints just a big smile you when you mash the gas. I did a search on them first and the recirc. hose that comes with the kit is a pita and I just used about 3" of heater hose coming off of the CAI and then attached a 90* barbed fitting and ran the hose from there.

Nice that doesn't look that bad. And soudns pretty nice too. Is it guarenteed not to throw a CEL?

BTW I just ordered my CP-E CAI so im not sure if i should cancel and get this 1 instead for 100 bucks less. What do you guys think?

Speed6 Guy
01-13-2007, 01:50 PM
There is no guaranty that the Fajita intake will not throw a CEL but there are members that have had it for a while now and there have beaned no CELs. So it is up to you to decide if it the money or the chance of a CEL that is most important to you

I guess ill just stick with the CPe they look like a reaible company and seem to know what they are doing as far as modding MazdaSpeed 6's. As it always turns out.... you get what you pay for...

Got mine last night, I just installed it a minute and ago the install was very strieght forward and easy as the instructions indicated. Fitment was perfect barring the crank vent hose that could be designed with a bit more thought but with a bit of creative routing it seems fine without any kniks. The install was about 20-30 mins total. I havent driven the car as yet as Im still at the office. I well contribute to what you have said from my opinion a bit later. Thanks again for the link.

Well I am a bit mixed right now because you are spot on about it being loud, no sorry "L O U D". The wistle of the turbo and the sound of the blow off is not really the problem, it is that sucking noise that dosent sit that well. I guess I was not expecting the CAI to be this audiable but it is a bit north of excessive IMO, so much so that I may have to look for another type of filter or get an additional peice of foam to try and defuse the sucking noise. In the upper rpm above say 4500 rpm the sucking noise goes away and is left with the acceptable high pitched wistle which I do like.

Now after driving around last night the computer had to relearn my driving pattern so the car was a bit sluggish for the first 50-60 miles then I went out to a remote area and made a couple full 5 gear hard run and the car now runs like a scolded cat as before but with a little more mid and up top power it seams the seat dyno has told me. All in all I am not disapointed but I just dont think this type of car should be annoucing itself in that manor if you get where Im coming from. Maybe it's just me.

FYI :On a side note, after reconnecting the battery, I found out the the memory of the passengers power windows didnt operate from the drivers side control switches which is a easy fix by going to each window and rolling down each window with its own switch and rolling them up again and holding the switch in the up position for 2 seconds including the drivers side and the 1 touch feature and from the drivers window control panel will return to it's standard function. This situation will occure each time the battery is disconnected.

I totally agree, i love how the turbo spools, love the BOV sounds,
but the air suckin' sound is kinda too much...maybe another
type of filter will help reduce the sound.....since the fujita filter
has this funnel shaped design built into it....

Too loud? Are you serious? Everyone exagerates how loud this thing is and I was really anxious to start hearing the turbo/BOV sounds. Well you can't hear a damn thing with the music on and the windows up. I have to turn the music down really softly 2-3 volume to be able to hear i. 4-5 and it's barely audible when the music is going. and anything above that, you can't hear the turbo/BOV at all.

The BOV could be a little louder but then it might start to overtake the wind noise that this car has. LOL

Well congratulations are in order when the time come my friend. Look I dont mind the spooling on the turbo and the BOV rush of air, the intake sound is what I dont really care for. I guess if I had a aftermarket exhaust on the car it wouldnt be as pronounced and on would really cancel out the other but that would make even more noise over all. I am going to try a few things that could help subdue some intake noise and let you know.

Thanks Rican219 for posting your video! It's the first time I was able to hear everthing people were raving about with the CAI mod. IMHO,the BOV sounds like someone sneezing everytime a shift occurs and the sound of the intake is louder than I imagined.

I think I'm going to hold off on this mod. My car suffers from enough road and wind noise already.

All honesty I really couldn't feel much of a gain. I could tell spool response felt a lil better or maybe that was just the audiable gain. Not sure but I like my investment

Oh ok thanks may look into getting or comparing this intake to the rest of the cai available for the ms6.

Ok, I took my MS6 to the dealer for it's first check-up this past Wednesday and I had them install the Mazdaspeed CAI and wanted the ipod adaptor.

It is confirmed that if you have Sirius installed, they CANNOT install the ipod adaptor (uses same jack in the stereo). I'm just going to let my subscription run out (I only listen to Stern on it anyways) and then have them install it.

They installed the CAI without a hitch and it is FULLY warrantied from Mazda for the length of your normal warranty, if installed by them. The tech told me that if the dealership does not install it, no matter who the manufacturer, it could POSSIBLY void warranty if it's found that the installation was not done correctly. I'm sure if you fought it, they would honor the warranty.
Anyway, this little mod to the car is awesome!!! It takes you by surprise how audible the motor is now, but not overwhelming. This motor LOVES and NEEDS air!! The sound the intake makes under full throttle acceleration is like an elephant drinking from a straw, a little loud, but the stock BOV gives off a nice sneeze when you let off the gas. Nothing obnoxious like I've heard on other cars and you can't hear it inside the cabin if you have the radio above 7. I can REALLY feel a difference in power also! I would say, conservatively, it gives 15 WHP. I personnaly think it could be more because it allows the turbo to spool A LOT faster and the acceleration doesn't die off at 3500-4000 RPM like it did stock. It keeps pulling closer to 5000 RPM's now when it used to just peter out at those revs. I would recommend a CAI to anyone wanting more power and just a little more attention from passerby's. I do have one complaint though, how the hell do you clean the cone filter when it gets dirty?? It is shoved so far down inside the wheel well that the only way to get to it would be to unbolt the entire unit or go in through the drivers side wheel well. Anyone else ever clean their filter and how did you do it?

On another note, and I know it should be in a different section of the forums, but the only issue I had with the car when i brought it in was the driver's side headrest wouldn't stay down! It keeps popping up on its own which is annoying because it creates a blind spot when reversing. Anyway, the dealership told me that it is a design flaw in all Mazda 6's and that there is no fix!! Has anyone else experienced this "defect" and are they just blowing smoke up my *** that it can't be fixed?

Thanks...
