I'm just really curious on what the Miata members got for their sexy RWD convertible.

I don't have one any more, but since I'm back in VA, I was able to drive my Dad's '01 and my father-in-law's '06. I was able to hang out the rear on the '06 in a wet parking lot, despite the autotragic transmission. I'll admit, the paddle shifters help a lot with the fact that he bought an auto.

I've decided that I don't like the brakes on the '06. Too grabby. Over all, it's a sweet car though.

That was one of this things I hated about the '06 when I drove it, the brakes. It'd take me some time getting used to.

Nothing.

Good mods are so overpriced. :(

Plus, it's just not good weather for it (all you people who live in warm climates, shh!;))

I'll be waiting until spring before doing anything worthwhile.

Griots Best of Show wax and Speed Shine. and I finally got a garge door opener for the garage (the MSMs batcave). Eventually the remote will be hardwired into the MSM so that it is hidden.

A couple of weeks ago I bought my Miata a Brospeed header from eBay for Honukkah. See: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=190054988501&rd=1,1

Hoping to install it tonight.

how much did that run you? I'm looking to do the same.

One way is to split open the case and hard wire in a remote button like the one on the case. This is the cost of a push button switch at Radio shack and 3-4 feet of inexpensive bell wiring. The other is to purchase a kit from flash2pass.com for $60-$70 bucks which is a stand alone system that activates the garage door with a flash of the headlights.

I got an Innovate LC1 WB EGO sensor. Time to start building some custom MS maps. (nana)

(I ran out of abbreviations).

And as a gift to myself, I paid off the P5 last week :D.

My wife's ES finally died, so I got a 95 Miata from a buddy of mine (http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123654112) I haven't been around much because EVERY chance I get, I've been out driving. +1 global warming :/ . I was driving all of last weekend with a santa hat on, listening to Rage against the Machine, and little old ladies were honking and waiving at me. Some lady in an SUV cut me off, but then immediatly pulled over and let me pass. I love my miata, it makes me happy and I wave to people instead of flipping them off.
I hang out with some Spec Miata racers and they're going to help me fix up and tune my car. nothing fancy, I just want her to purrrr. At least for now, till I can bankroll a supercharger.
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! !

I did it for just the cost of some time, and a little wire and a pushbutton from radio shack.... just gutted my clicker, and realised there was enough room in the odb2 plug door to stealth it nicely.

I meant the actual garage door opener.. like for the garage :P

manually opening door is for the lose, you gotta open it, back the car out, get out of the car, close it, etc

I got a Craftsman 1/2hp belt drive for around $200. Chain drives are less expensive by about $40-$60 but they are a bit louder and heavier than the belts. I would stay away from worm drive. I intalled it myself with about $15 worth of brackets, nuts and bolts. Sears will install it for about $120.

Kansei
12-29-2006, 11:49 PM
oh wow that's not bad for an install. I rent the house I'm in right now (because it's just a house with my two roommates and we're all just in Rochester for college) but my landlord said we could do whatever.. he'll even reimburse us if he likes the stuff. I just don't know if there is enough structure where the motor would have to be in order to mount it up

wait hmm there are 2x4s right past the garage door. interesting :)

http://picasaweb.google.com/clauretano/TurboProjectDay1Disassembly/photo#5013801711889630642

I'd be fine with a chain drive.. it's a detached garage in the backyard

MAZDASPEED MX5
12-30-2006, 11:14 AM
I would run some metal brakets from one 2x4 to the other above the approximate area above where the motor would hang and use some additional brackets to attach to the motor. My motor is hanging from a single floor joist by some angle iron and lag bolts

k-lea
12-31-2006, 03:49 PM
Well...

I decided to be a total girl and I got caught up in shopping. I bought a $443 phone and around $500 worth of clothes. SO, that set me back. I have all the money now and Sam (*************) will be receiving it Monday.

They have already started working on the car. They found more things wrong with it so they are waiting on those parts and waiting on my coilovers.
