Does anyone know to clear the codes in a mazda6i with the auto stick tranny? Most importantly anyone know what the codes are?
My gf's 04 6i just threw a check engine light last night. The car runs fine with one exception! It shifts hard in reg auto or autositck mode now. I have tried clearing the codes by disconnecting the battery, and draining whats left in the system via brake lights. That doesn't apear to work with this car. I let it set for roughly 3 to 4 min last night before I hooked everything back up and the only difference it made is now she has no preset stations! The light CEL is still thier. Anyone have any ideas?
Edit: I just took the car to autozone and scan tool couldn't link up to the computer.
Edit: You cant get on the gas either! The car just bogs down.

AutoZone does not have a CAN scan tool. So they are of no use. As a matter of fact, I don't think they even know what CAN is. When I called one, the guy sounded like a deer in the headlights when I asked if they could read CAN.
You will either have to find someone who has one in your area, or bite the bullet the bullet and call the stealer.
Leave the battery unhooked for about 15 to 20 minutes, not four or five.

Ive checked all the fuses in the engine bay and in the car. They where all good except one. The fuse for the cig lighter

Car will not reset until 10 minute battery disconnect. But seeing that you are having other issues along with the CEL I would get to the dealer.

I reinstalled the stock intake from the AEM SRI which has been on the car for about 3 months now with no problems and disconnected the battery for 45 min. That didn't do anythign other then where it idled high at first but I think that was due to the fact that the car was cold.

there's quite a few guys over on 6club in the Florida area. and quite a few have scanners now if you wanna hit them up over there maybe?
are you disconnecting the Neg batter term by the way? that unconnected for 5 min should be more than fine.
...and if you reconnect it and it's still there, then it's a problem that is still there, not a freak issue. is there a reason it can't go to the dealer?
