Anyone try an importer yet, you know the places that bring over the JDM engines and trans. I wonder if it's the same gearing.

should be. theres a place here locally call foreign engines, inc that imports used JDM engines/trannies. i got a tranny for my 92protege from them several years back for a pretty good price.

Are you looking for just the stock transmission gears or the complete stock transmission, or, are you looking for something that can handle more power?

Judging by his username I'd think he is looking for one built for power (glare)

Replacement trannies can be had for cheap from junkyards; then you have the dealer for new units/pieces.

As for a beefed up one, I think one vendor here was offering new internals (can't remember which), or you could use some GTX gears. Don't know the specifics for that one but they are supposedly better.

I have an extra set of GTX 3rd gears and a slightly used GTX 5th gears that will fit right on to the stock shafts in our transmissions, if anyone wants to buy them? They are made from harder material than the stock gears.
