thanks to a 140 tread wear rating on the stock MS3 tires, I am naturally shopping for a 300 TWR or so High Perf All season tire. 215/40 is a tough size to find while still being cost effective. My golf had 225/40s and were about $20-$30 less per tire and had a much wife array to chose from.

I am guessing that the 225 would be fairly close to the 215 (10mm /obvious) and the aspect ratio would be a touch taller.

What say you? Big deal or not a big deal?

I'm with ya.... but see the difference? I am not talking about the cheapy tires. I like the Falkens. Good tire for the money. $23 difference per tire. I know I am being cost effective (some would say cheap) but that's $92 for a set of 4.

The rolling diameter of the 215 is 24.8". The 225 is 25.1", .3" taller. This will raise the car by half of this, .15", you will never notice. The additional width will be good. I wonder why Mazda didn't put 225s on stock?

I made a mistake. It's a 215/45 as the stock size. not a 40.
